The birth of the girl Olivia Mahgaden was not a welcome one for her parents. They loved her, of course, but it was an unexpected accident. Her parents were already struggling as it was to pay the bills and with an infant needing its own expenses such as diapers, bottles, a crib, and more; The two Mahgadens would have their hands full raising their newly born daughter. And oh was she a handful. Crying all night, for seemingly no reason, the two parents were up to their wits end trying to keep the ever hungry baby pleased. Sometimes, in the middle of the night when the mother was exhausted and barely able to keep herself standing to feed the parasite, she thought to herself maybe the baby did it on purpose. Just to keep them awake.
[break][break]
Life growing up in the ghettos of Slateport was horrible for the young diva, Olivia. The clothes she wore were cheap, itchy, and more often than not, dirty. At school, the demons other children would make fun of her ragtag appearance and often pulled at the oversized pants she wore to make her trip. It was enough to make the girl cry and beg to her dirt poor parents that she needed better clothing. Eager to please their daughter, and to make the other parents at the school seem them as equals, they upgraded her wardrobe. Her parents were barely able to keep up with the young girls spending habits, really how much could a ten year old spend?, and so she had to take to other incomes. Not her own, of course. Olivia went to all of her teachers telling them varying degrees of the same thing, like, "Mommy drinks too much and can't help it that Daddy gets mad and sometimes he gets mad and hits her..." Oh how the money came rolling in. As was her request, the adults did mention anything to her parents or the authorities and only paid her the precious money she wanted in cash.
[break][break]
High school was a whole different story for the manipulating teen. It soon became apparent to Olivia that her particular skill set of manipulation and lying was perfect for the high school hierarchy. The only thing she lacked was the beauty some of the other girls possessed. The cheer squad, when she auditioned, laughed at her and quite literally told her off. It was a horrible experience that reminded her of her days in grade school, causing her to cry at the try out, further ruining her reputation and any chance she had at becoming popular. Olivia would have her revenge on those girls one day, that much she knew. With her high school career more or less non existent, Olivia took to updating her fashion sense even more, wearing the most expensive items and the latest designer wear. Whether the cheerleaders or other popular wanted to admit it or not, that girl had an excellent sense of fashion. They weren't the only ones to notice, though, because as soon as Olivia graduated high school a small time modeling agency picked her up. Not for her face, there were far prettier ones, or her body, she was considered fat in their social circles; but for her sense of fashion that the other girls just didn't have. The average model needed someone to think for her in any situation and that included fashion. Olivia, on the other hand, was different and it was something the agency liked.
[break][break]
Her life as a model was short lived for a few reasons, the most important seeing a stray Aqua flyer. Olivia had been in Sootopolis working at a shoot when she passed by a street lamp with a small flyer attached to it. Team Aqua, huh. Of course the brunette had heard of them, if only whispers. There were a few hours to kill before she had her shoots, so why not? What she saw, well, it was mind blowing in a way. The event had clearly been funded by the Team, and from what Olivia could tell, they had bank. As she listened to the pathetic speech, she couldn't help but fantasize about how the resources could be used better. Her judgmental eyes passed over the few grunts at the event and the realization came over her then. She, Olivia, could do so much better with this team in her hand. She quit her job as a model and went back to her hometown of Slateport with one mission in mind, to join Team Aqua. Imagine her surprise, and utter humiliation, when she was told she jut didn't have "the look". Fury boiled inside the now jobless brunette, but being her usual self, offered the grunt at the door a smirk before turning on her heels. She had a plan. Using some of the connections she had made as a model, and some left over money, Olivia got around to preparing an extravagant fashion show to be hosted, and a few select people in Aqua were given invitations, including the one who had rejected her. Once they arrived, they watched the fashion show as usual, and towards the end, were given something that would have the saltiest of sailors gasping at. Coming onto the catwalk, Olivia strutted her stuff in the colors of Aqua. Donning an aquamarine cocktail dress, with silver stilettos, she was followed by an entourage of models in the same Aqua colors: Blue, teal, aquamarine; it was all in the wardrobe consisted of. Doing a quick turn and dead drop, she was eye to with the head of the local recruitment center, and asked one question, the same smirk from earlier on her face, "So I don't have the look?"
The brunette's time in Aqua was spent well and Olivia swiftly rose through the ranks. Her ambition was matched only by her determination to become the leader of the band of misfits. It wasn't easy work not was it quickly done, but eventually Olivia found herself just below an admin of Team Aqua with a loyal entourage behind her. They followed her word to the dot and were extremely dedicated to her. This loyalty was so fierce that it sparked rumors throughout the grunts. Was she going to be a new admin? Was she going to be the new leader? Was she going to replace Archie? These rumors quickly spread to the upper workings of Aqua and when the admins caught wind of it they were furious. This upstart thought she was better than them? It was time to show her who was boss.
[break][break]
Olivia eventually was given a top secret mission by Shelly herself: Find and retrieve a mysterious artifact said to be capable of powering a weapon strong enough to bend the sea to their will. She would be allowed to bring along her most trusted advisors. A prodigal scientist researching different pokemon who lived in the sea and a young woman with powerful psychic abilities, both of which Olivia recruited personally. The three of them alone would go on this mission. Olivia saw it as a simple task and was more than ready to find this relic. Ready to depart with her small team, she bid farewell to the admins and promised a swift and successful mission.
[break][break]
Whilst the preparations for the ship was being done Olivia gathered her advisors to consult them. The marine biologist was excited to go and see the new and different marine pokemon but the psychic was not. She said she had a vision foretelling great misfortune for the trio and desperately begged Olivia to reconsider. It wasn't simply a matter of failing the mission she claimed, but a matter of life or death. Olivia assured her that she would cancel the mission and report to the admins in order to placate the psychic. She lied. At the crack of dawn the next day Olivia and the scientist departed to set off for the adventure of a lifetime. In her eyes, she was doing the right thing. It was best to leave her behind rather than have her worry throughout the whole trip.
[break][break]
Their trip began with them exploring the many isles of Hoenn, followed by the icy caps of Sinnoh, until they were forced to Kanto. It had been nearly a year into their exploration and they had yet to find anything detailing where to find this mysterious item. Olivia and the scientist made their way to Cinnabar to discuss with the local Aqua outpost team of any potential findings on the surrounding islands. A member there recommended venturing to the Seafoam Islands and searching the vast cave system. It was also here that the psychic had caught up with them. She warned Olivia once more that only death awaited her on this journey, but the ambitious Aqua member ignored her once more. With no other leads, the scientist and Olivia departed for the twin islands. A month passed and only Olivia returned, shaken by the events that had occurred and refusing to discuss them with the psychic who had once warned her. The other members at Cinnabar agreed she should give up on her mission but she refused. Instead, they compromised that she would take a temporary medical leave of absence while her wounds healed.
[break][break]
Olivia found herself bound to a beachside home Aqua provided for her alongside the psychic whose visions she had ignored. The two of them lived a quiet domestic life for a few months as Olivia tried to recover. The unspoken question as to what happened to the scientist never came up, but Olivia could feel the psychic's eyes on her at all times. There was so much that woman knew and concerned herself with; Olivia had no wish to give her more to worry herself with. When the time came for Olivia to leave, the psychic did as she had done twice before and implored her to stay lest she come face to face with death again. And just as before, Olivia set off in secret. She had given up too much time. Lost too many relationships, too many friends, to give up.
[break][break]
It took another two years until Olivia found herself in Kalos, spelunking through a cave in some mysterious plateau. She had followed up on a local legend about a magical sphere hidden in the depths of the earth. The brunette and her pokemon explored valiantly and seemingly for no reason until they reached a large cavern. It seemed enough to cross in her eyes. Ordering her pokemon to create a bridge of water and flash freeze it, she crossed it determined that her prize was on the other side.
[break][break]
She wouldn't know. Halfway across the frozen bridge it cracked and as she fell, her pokemon cried out for her. So this was it. This was how she would die. She lost a friend who was like a daughter to her, she lost a friend who died, and now she was losing her pokemon too. Olivia prayed someone would find their pokeballs soon. She contemplated these things as she fell, for what felt forever, until suddently it stopped. She stopped.
[break][break]
The last thing Olivia Mahgaden saw before she awoke was a small metallic ball opening to reveal a shining light.
A new person awoke after that fall. A person that wasn't completely Olivia. She still retained her name, yes but also went by Valentine as well. For the first few hours of their existence, they wrestled for control of the body with Olivia eventually winning with her dominant personality. The Magearna stood no chance to overwhelming her.
[break][break]
Alive and well, with new found power and empathy, Olivia quickly made haste for her ship. She was done with Aqua. She was done with her past life. The newly risen Olivia set off for the Lyeant region where opportunity was abound. Some sailors told her of the rising factions and political games at play, the perfect playground for her and Magearna.
