I am Thalia Grayson and it is a delight to make your acquaintance. I don't have much time to entertain you as I'd like to. There are matters that must be addressed before the day's end. If there are any questions that you would like to ask me, please save them for the narrator. They're a very nervous fellow so do be patient while waiting for responses.[break][break]
When I was a little girl, my mother told me that I was very patient and calm with the world around me. I never asked for much because I did not see a reason to haste. Haste made for terrible results and I wanted to obtain the best of which I am capable of achieving. Yes, I'm aware that it is strange for a child to be so obedient even in their youth. I can't recall a time that I have ever acted in a manner less of what my father believed to be my station.[break][break]
Temper tantrums, crying and even heated arguments seemed to be beyond my understanding. I have always been a logical person and self-critical at that. Every move that I make and breath that I take is made with a calculating mind. I feel as if there is another being residing within my body and for it to co-exist with my own, I took on various characteristics.[break][break]
Sadly, I am quite picky with the people that I choose to associate with and the habits that I partake in. It is only out of interest that I operate and an arbitrary heart along with a blunt way of speech tends to harm others more than it helps. There was once a time that I overextended myself to please others. I wanted everyone around me to be happy even if it was at the cost of my own heart.[break][break]
"Do you love your mother?"[break]
"Do you love your brother?"[break]
"Do you love your father?"[break][break]
Everyone asks those questions but they never asked me if I loved myself. They tried to hide the truth behind my life. I was born in silence and under such a constricting way of "love", I felt as though I never lived. Then I met them and I felt alive for the first time. Strange how others who don't share the same blood feel more like family than your own.[break][break]
I'd never say these words to anyone else but I will confess them to you while my heart is open to the idea. Reserved is how I would describe myself. It is hard to open a heart that has been wounded so many times. But it's possible. [break][break]
So please, won't you sit down and listen to me?

She was born in silence. A soft whisper on the wind carrying the cries of mourners as they crowded around the silent. She was to be laid to rest in the day to come. Neither parent able to speak to the other or say her name aloud in fear that their wish for her to awaken would be unanswered. A spectator to the birth remained in the shadows and stalked away as the child's room door was closed. The click reverberating through her mother's heart along with the woe of losing what could have been.[break][break]
The waves crashing against the shore and a moon overhanging were her first sights and sounds. A deafening cry breaking the still of night; hurried pace and short breaths following. A pond made behind their home was untouched aside from an Absol which laid curled around a sleeping infant. Her father pulled her close away from the Pokemon as her mother shooed it away but it refused to move. With soft sniffles and a whimper, she came to life under the night sky.[break][break]
Doctors baffled and parents perturbed as the infant grew into a kind-hearted child instead of falling immobile, still as the day she was born.[break][break]
They named her Thalia which meant to blossom and just as her namesake described, she was ever changing. Never one to give her parents a fuss even as they left their home of Poni Island to Irisia where her father took on a new job. She busied herself with her passions and continued to move forward even when the odds were against her. Her mother develed in charity although it was only for show. She was far from being a cruel woman but her mind was on more than just aiding those less fortunate. She desired power that could be passed on to her daughter and the one she would marry. [break][break]
Heirs.[break]
Progression.[break]
Absolution.[break][break]
She wanted all these things and more. Even to the point where she spoke to her husband over adopting other children under the precedence of giving Thalia siblings. In truth, the children that she gathered together were far more than just "sibings". They were experiments. Gijinkas, artificial and naturally made. Thalia watched her mother on many nights examine her siblings before bed and reassuring her that it was for their own benefit. [break][break]
Thalia was never one to lie to her parents and she expected the same respect from them as well. To say that she was sorely disappointed was an understatement and that she was never one to lie was a mistruth. There was a secret that she'd kept from her parents from the moment that she could speak. A voice in the back of her mind aiding her in her tasks and telling her that things would be alright. It quelled her anger with a cooling hand and melted away her worries with soft words.[break][break]
She wasn't sure of the voice's name. A conscience is what she called it but it felt like so much more. A part of her that had come alive. Another piece of her.[break][break]
The years passed and her siblings went their separate ways while Thalia grew into a young woman. Her father noticed that she was aging abnormally. Although her body was growing, Thalia didn't seem to be showing any of the woes that came with aging. And she didn't seem to understand her position.[break][break]
Thalia befriended a young blind child from a no-name place. They weren't anyone important but she thought of them as the entire world. He knew that the relationship was dangerous to his daughter's future but she was happy. Her studying habits didn't change and neither did the softness to her gaze or her smile but he could tell that she was happier.[break][break]
Thalia moved away from her parents to her own estate. Co-founding a company with another person that she met through the grapevine of connections. And to his surprise when he came to visit her, that person was there as well. They acted as though they had been living together for quite some time. He didn't miss his daughter's slight smile or the way she stepped closer to them, brushing her fingers against their arm. His wife hadn't missed it as well.[break][break]
They tried to dissuade her from continuing such a relationship. A young woman with her entire life ahead of her, the co-founder of a company regalded by the world at that for their exploits in medicine, settling down with a sailor of all things. Thalia didn't respond after their case was stated but when she did, her mother was livid. A slap sounded throughout the room and the girl's form wavered before turning into a Ditto which had been wounded by Thalia's mother. Their real daughter emerged from another room adjacent to the one that they "talked" in. Gathering the injured Ditto in her arms, she stared at them with the same love and affection in her eyes. And in the softest voice, she said.[break][break]
"Get out."
[break][break]
It had been a few years since Thalia last saw her parents. They called her, yes, but she rarely responded. As for the sailor who captured her heart — theirs was lost to the sea.[break][break]
She didn't agree with Parallax's methods. But they were effective. What they wanted was impossible to achieve but she wasn't going to argue with the results. If she could accomplish her goal then all else would fall into place.[break][break]
Running her fingers through Caspian's hair after a nightmare consumed their dreams, the silence was one that Thalia was comfortable with, and she hoped that it was telling her that they were moving towards better things.
