haruka was warmly welcomed into the world by her parents, but her father wasn't 100% pleased with his newborn daughter. because what he wanted was a son.[break][break]

a man of prestige and diligence, haruka's father invested much of his time and loyalty to the pokemon association. naturally, he wanted his firstborn to follow in his footsteps, but he was given haruka, a petite girl with frail hands and a soft heart. while haruka wanted to wear frilly dresses and play with teacup sets, her father had other plans.[break][break]

he raised her to be the son he dreamed of having. her hair was always kept at a short length, she consistently wore boyish clothes, was referred to with male pronouns, and trained in the ways of a man. haruka's father did not fall short in discipline, reprimanding her when she failed or rebelled and rewarding her when her efforts made him proud in the eyes of public figures.[break][break]

haruka could have lived on like this, perhaps, but puberty was not a friend to her—or was it? it became painstakingly obvious that haruka murakami was not man, but woman, with a delicate figure and feminine features. unable to hide her true sex anymore, haruka embraced her femininity. her father suffered, having lived long enough to see his daughter as his one and only son.[break][break]

her life thus far has been and is controlled much by her father. he demands much of her, such as her entire dedication to the pokemon association like him. whatever dreams or interests she may have had do not meet with his quota. haruka doesn't complain, but inside she's screaming for freedom to take her by the hand. at present, haruka has taken ranks into the association's council, further highlighting her father's pride, but it's never enough because in the end she's still a woman.
