Cold. Calculating. Ruthless. Naezu Synstrum is all of things, but also broken, self-loathing, and uncertain. A lifetime of torture and abuse have left her mental state almost laughably unstable, and a diagnosis from her years as a captive labels her as psychotic. Naezu harbors a deep-seated hatred for humans, believing that each and every one of them wouldn't bat a single eye at the sight of a bruised and bloodied individual in deep need of helping, and having seen the absolute worst of humanity- and having been the victim of such acts- she holds no resentment or even mercy towards her enemies, especially if they happen to be a non-Gijinka.[break][break]
Despite her icy exterior, however, Naezu is a girl who saw too much too fast. Experimented on and treated like a lab rat twelve years of her nineteen-year lifespan, she behaves as though she is above everyone else only due to her lack of self-worth and positive validation of her actions. In a sense, one could say she has an inferiority complex, believing that her species as a Gijinka as well as the torments she supposedly 'deserved' are proof that she herself is weak, and to combat that fear she behaves as though the world itself revolves because she has decreed it so. She warms up incredibly slowly, due to the betrayals she suffered at the age of seven when the hell that was her life officially started.[break][break]
That isn't to say she's misunderstood. In many ways Naezu truly is the ruthless killing machine she was molded into being from a young age- from when she still went by her birth name: Mizune Lancaster. In fact, the mention of that name in itself seems to be a sort of trigger for Naezu's wrath, believing that those who know who she used to be will somehow turn said knowledge against her. Referring to her as 'Cerberus', 'Cer', '38', or heaven forbid 'Project 38-X' will incur an even more destructive wrath, as those names were a mark of her torture and the lack of identity that had been instilled in her over the course of twelve years. Even still, she functions only barely as an individual, incapable of many functions that most individuals would find second nature. In fact, while agile and an extremely brilliant individual, Naezu keeps quiet in a majority of social situations when she feels as though she's being blatantly ignored or otherwise told to leave, though should she be ordered around in this state it would be apparent that this was as a dramatic manifestation of her self-worth issues.[break][break]
Within the halls of Nox Luna's base in the Underbelly of New Veherna, she seems to change slightly. Within the so-called hallowed halls of Nox Luna, she brightens up. The faintest glimmer of her pre-lab self striking though with a newfound vibrance and childlike kindness and wonder within her personality. Indeed, it is this duality which often drives individuals to her side, and her false confidence has served to instill her as nothing less than a fearsome leader, kind to her subjects but unforgiving to her enemies. To say that she'd wish for nothing more than the Nox Luna banner flown high in each major city of not only Lyeant but the entire world would be nothing more than an incredibly accurate statement.
She has no small wonder of soft spots, and an exposure to a world so unlike the one she's known as left her with a number of desires and wishes. The most paramount of which is changing the way Gijinkas both natural and artificial are perceived, which happens to be one of Nox Luna's primary goals. Her second desire is far darker, but stems from noble ideals: the expunging of thieves, killers, corrupt institutions, and anything else that could ever potentially give rise to another Team Imum, or another experimental laboratory where innocent souls were broken and molded into something they would never otherwise want to be.

Born Mizune Aria Lancaster in Blackthorn City in Johto, Mizu started life as ordinarily as she could. From an early age she was enraptured with fantasy, dreaming up elaborate worlds for herself and her elder sister Kasai throughout their time together. However, ordinary was almost all Mizu could hope for. While born as a Gijinka, she was inherently the weakest of her family, born to Gijinka parents of Salamence and Flygon descent, where her elder sister started life as a Dragon, Mizu began life… as a Caterpie. Baffled, her parents had traced family lineage back to her father’s grandmother, who’d been a Butterfree throughout her own life. How and why the anomaly struck at that point in the lineage was unknown, but despite the difference in strength Mizune’s parents vowed to raise her no differently from her sibling.[break][break]
As the years passed, it became obvious which traits of the Caterpie that Mizu most blatantly displayed. An uncanny ability to climb nearly any surface, and a voracious appetite made for quite the interesting little problem as Mizu grew into a toddler. Oftentimes she’d wander off only to be found on the roof, or even just sleeping on the ceiling. It seemed very much as though gravity didn’t wish to apply to the youngling, much to the eventual but still loving dismay of her parents, and her sister after Mizu turned three.[break][break]
For as much of a hassle as Mizu was during her short time having a normal life, her parents wouldn’t have given her up for the world. Neither would her elder sister, who reached her first evolution shortly before Mizu turned five- and who would’ve likely reached her final by the time Mizu turned ten if not for the tragedy that struck later that same year. [break][break]
The night had been as calm as usual when they came, slaughtering the three strongest members of the family and snatching five-year-old Mizu as she slept, only beginning to stir from the copious noise generated by her sister attempting to fight against the intruders. By all accounts, one would’ve simply subdued the elder members or have taken them, but it appeared as though the group these individuals belonged to had taken special interest in the “Caterpie with Dragon’s blood.” Torn from her family and the only life she had, Mizune was whisked off the wilds of Lyeant, secluded within a lab operated by a sect of Team Imum that dealt with their… less savory endeavors. For the next twelve years she would remain there, and only the first two would hold any semblance of joy.[break][break]
Those first two years were calm, as even though the corrupt researchers in the lab were eager to see just what effect having Dragon-type parents had on the girl, they weren’t willing to risk fracturing her psyche more than was absolutely necessary. And so she remained Mizune Lancaster, a Caterpie in the company of a Fearow family. Day after day for two years she learned, her innate ability for rapid development allowing her to quickly retain concepts that would’ve otherwise proven difficult, even if she did not completely understand them on a cognitive level. Day after day she became steadily more aware of her surroundings, of the shallow eyes and downtrodden appearances that surrounded her. By the end of the first year she’d become aware of the screams, the tortuous noises that echoed throughout the halls as individuals were forcefully and painfully transformed into what Mizune herself already was. By the end of the second, she’d become so used to the screams she was jaded to them, and her outlook on reality was bleak and overtly nihilistic. Her fantasies had darkened, and where she was once the valiant hero she was now the devil incarnate, the evil being against which the heroes so foolishly and vainly fought against.[break][break]
And it was the end of that second year which buried that mentality so deep within her. Normally, when a young girl turns seven, she’s given cake, presents, and wishes of a happy birthday among loving family and friends. Mizune received similar, but of a far darker degree. For her seventh birthday, she was given new clothes- the type that all of the other patients within the lab had worn, a promise of strength, and a new name. Project 38-X. Codename: Cerberus. Upon her seventh birthday, Mizune Lancaster died horrifically at the hands of the individuals who’d cared for her for two years, and in her place Project 38-X, otherwise known as Cer, stood.[break][break]
“Project 38-X” proceeded to spend the next ten years of her life in an agonizing, seemingly eternal hell of constant experiments, trials, tests and observations. Within the first six months she experienced a mental breakdown that rendered her unresponsive to all but the most basic of commands for a full eight hours afterward. Two months later, and she began to show signs of psychosis, stating to an on-site consultant (there for the purpose of studying the patient’s mental stability over the course of ‘treatment’) that the moment she walked into a room she started counting the multiple ways she could kill each inhabitant within in the most efficient way possible. While good news for the leaders of the project, several of the scientists began to show concern that further disruption of Project 38-X’s mental state could destabilize her completely, possibly resulting in alternative personalities that could complicate testing. So it was that three months after her initial diagnosis, Cerberus was put through a variety of trials that would test not only her physical capabilities, but also the force of her will as well.[break][break]
What they found was that her mind had resorted to utilizing her childhood fantasies as a method of coping with stress, allowing Cerberus to alter specific details of the appearance of certain objects within her mind, or even completely alter the appearance of a creature, human or otherwise, that she perceived as a threat. These ‘hallucinations’ were initially thought to be a result of the psychosis, but were later proven to be instead a preternatural method through which her mind naturally coped, and not the result of any mental illness or newfound disorder. It was this that first began the dredlings of the complete individual within Cerberus, the one would later state herself as Naezu Synstrum nearly nine years later.[break][break]
As she got older, the trials became more severe and significantly more life-threatening, and while she was able to withstand majority of them with little to no lasting injuries (as those she retained seemed to heal within a matter of days as consequence of her rapid growth as a Caterpie) she had come very dangerously close to losing a limb or two. Shortly before her sixteenth birthday, however, she in fact did lose a limb. It was a new test, one specifically designed to push her reaction times and endurance to their limits and possibly beyond. She had done well up until halfway through the test, when the staff overseeing the situation decided to up the ante over a few placed bets and accelerated the speed on the large blades that shot out into the room at seemingly-random intervals. Not expecting the sudden burst of speed, Project 38-X moved only slightly slower than she needed to have been, and the sharpness of the blade combined with its momentum and velocity sheared her left arm completely off.[break][break]
It took a few moments before she started screaming in pain.[break][break]
The scientists who oversaw and placed bets were reprimanded, but none harshly enough to have lost their jobs. Instead, they were tasked with figuring out how to replace the lost appendage, and a few weeks later had drafted plans for a completely functional robotic prosthetic, one that would link into the patient’s nervous system to allow complete functionality that standard prosthetics wouldn’t be able to provide. A month later, and Cerberus was being outfitted for the replacement with a custom-housing attached to the clean edge of her left shoulder. The blade had been sharp and fast enough that not even bone had dampened its strength, and the result had been a clean cut right through the center of the shoulder joint itself. The housing fitted was dominantly titanium, with one key, crippling difference.[break][break]
The material used on the outer case for the housing, specifically that which made contact with Project 38-X specifically, was carved out of everstone. A prevention method that ensured the lab’s prized lab rat wouldn’t end up outgrowing her chains too quickly. Shortly after it was confirmed that Cerberus had complete function and motor recovery within the metal limb, trials resumed.[break][break]
However, the pain and agony of not only losing her arm, but realizing that the new one she’d been given would keep her from ever even thinking of evolving- an act that the scientists had startled her out of a total of fifty-seven times- drew as the final straw for the girl’s waning stability.[break][break]
On the night of her seventeenth birthday, mere hours before the Imum War would break out, she acted. The fatal mistake with training a being to kill with brutal efficiency always came when it realized that you lacked the capability to stop it. The metal arm allowed her even more deadly punching potential with her left hand, and with String Shot being consistently utilized from her right she made steady but short work of the lab, tearing her tormentors apart- literally in some cases- as she began to set fire to the lab. Those patients who’d been freed by the death of the Head Researcher fled immediately, not caring who or what was the cause for their newfound freedom.
[break][break]
As Cerberus stepped up through the rubble, dawn broke, and in that moment Project 38-X experienced a new set of emotions that she hadn’t felt since the age of five. Freedom, Joy, Happiness…
[break][break]
Determination.[break][break]
The girl closed her eyes, and when they next opened Project 38-X died in the burning, crumbling building behind her. She reached a hand then to the sun as it peaked over the trees, and in a grasp silenced it. Her mind’s eye painting the sky black as pitch as the girl picked a branch from the ground, weighing it in her hands before nodding to herself. The branch was scorched in several places, blackened wood making itself known only when her mind allowed the sun’s light to return. [break][break]
Without once looking back to the life she had lived, the woman known as Naezu Synstrum was born.

For all her faults, Naezu is by and large a highly confused individual when it comes to dealing with emotions besides hatred and a base indifference. Should these be your goal with her, you won't have to try very hard. Friends come slow, and she trusts even more slowly. Love maintains a bit of a foreign concept to the girl, though should you be fine with a bit of growing pains (literally) it isn't entirely out of bounds.
[break][break]
Naezu, perhaps due in part to her faults, has a tendency to have few to none who would willingly refer to themselves as her friend. She's slow to warm up to people and even slower to trust them, but the endeavor would be well worth the effort if one was persistent enough to stick by her side. She values kindness, and despite her clashes with Team Omricon she genuinely respects them for their ideals and ability to bring about change in their own way. Becoming her friend is an endeavor in and of itself, and she'll likely end up asking you multiple times why you refuse to leave her side despite all of her misgivings and horrid personality traits.
Oooh boy. Much as one would suspect, Naezu has a tendency to rub people the wrong way. While she means well, some people take her perceived arrogance and are capable of running up the flagpole. Insults, disrespecting gijinkas, illegal actions; there are many ways to incur her ire, just be careful how much aggro you draw. Just because she's a Caterpie doesn't in any way mean she's weak.
Ah yes, love. One of the many emotions that Naezu simply forgot existed. While she's sweet on Silas, her Zorua, she has trouble deciding whether it's simple endearment or if she truly cares for the Pokemon on a deep enough level to be love, however familial the source may be for her. Suitors beware though, since love is an emotion she is incredibly unfamiliar with she may be prone to reacting in one of the only ways she knows how: inflicting pain. In case you're one who has trouble reading between the lines: She's a tsundere. From hell.
Unbeknownst to Naezu, her elder sister Kasai Lancaster did indeed survive that night twelve years ago. Her elder by four years, Kasai is a Flygon Gijinka who would most likely have done all she could to hunt her younger sister down in an attempt to find her. FC is yours to choose, and as twelve years is a fair amount of time there's a lot of growing up that could've been done. After all, Kasai was orphaned at the age of nine. She likely bears a number of scars from that night, but much of everything else is up to you. It should be noted that she was the more adventurous of the two, and often took responsibility for her careless little sister.

NOX LUNA
As the leader of Nox Luna, Naezu keeps herself distant from the organization's members and even its Admins, though she's never explicitly stated a desire to be left alone. Human members of Nox Luna that approach her outside of meetings and the like will most likely receive a suspecting stare, but if you support her ideals she may make an exception to her hatred.[break][break]

HUMANS
As stated, she has a deep-seated hatred for humans. While this is mostly due to her captors and tormentors being exclusively human, she has a tendency to view majority of the cousin species under the same lens. Especially if you are one to react negatively to seeing a Gijinka, as she makes it no secret in the slightest.[break][break]
WRATH OF NOX HERSELF
However, you don't specifically have to Human to incur the wrath of Naezu, better known as Nox to those who manage to piss her off. In fact, her hatred for humans is only surpassed by her seething, explosive hatred for members of Team Imum, new and old. When the lab she resided in came under Imum control shortly after her tests began, she noticed a sharp increase in the lethality associated with them. She's more likely to kill first and ask later when dealing with Imum members, though she could potentially be dissuaded if you seek a more positive resolution.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION
Hatred and Love. Two emotions that couldn't be further apart on the scale, but they both stem from the same emotion: Passion. It would take a deal of effort, but a special human may be able to alter her views on humanity for the better, and put a little more color back into her world while they were at it.[break][break]
IT MUST BE MAGIC
Dark Wizard Naezu Synstrum. Cunning, evil, and insanely ruthless. Just as willing to burn an entire village as- oh hey~, whose that? Naezu, for all she may try to be, is still the result of her past. As tragic as that may be, it means that she's fiercely loyal to those near her. Heaven forbid someone manage to catch her eye. Poor girl may not know how to deal with it -hint hint-
