Baa-baa black sheep, have you any soul?[break]No sir, by the way - what the hell are morals? |
[attr="class","tbeapponebio"]
[attr="class","tbeapponebio2"]
You were born a Vert - Gwyndolyn Jasmine Vert. A family that could be considered royalty, an only child which led to a life of blessed rich loneliness. The only company you had were from the occasional grass pokemon who came by your garden in the backyard, and even then you were barely allowed outside. You were homeschooled. You had very little friends. You barely knew the meaning of affection, only growing up to know the value of money. The value of money became void to you, you despised it. Your parents couldn't care less, they had the servants caring for you. You grew up proper, polite, lady-like, and strictly taught. You had to be perfect. You had to be perfect. You had to be perfect. But when you're raised to be perfect, and you're constantly perfect, it goes from an accomplishment to an expectation. A heavy burden weighed down on you, you were expected to perform everything to the top of your ability. You worked hard. Hell, you worked your daylights out. You got perfect, but that was still never good enough. There was no such thing as getting better in your world; it's either you're perfect or you're punished.
[break][break]
That's just how your world worked, and that's how it would always work.
[break][break]
Your only sense off the pressure, the only outlet to your stress were the pokemon in the backyard who would always come talk to you. They would play with you, you would respond. Then, you would get in trouble for speaking to them. Of course you would. When you asked for family time, they only pat the top of your head and then pressed you back to your room. When you asked for a present, it would always be there in your room. Life was too easy for you, and you hated it.
[break][break]
When you asked for a friend, you were given a personal servant around your age. When you asked for a pokemon, you were given a bodyguard who was to monitor your every waking moment.
[break][break]
The burden, the stress. The loneliness and the pressure were far too much for you to take. You wanted affection; not money. You wanted maybe just one day to spend with your parents. You wanted to laugh like the other kids, you wanted to go out like the other kids. You wanted to play with your own pokemon like the other kids.
[break][break]
But you weren't like the other kids.
You grew up to be beautiful. You were taught the proper mannerism, you were educated. Your parents discovered that you had an affinity for pokemon, and quickly brought the best pokemon they, themselves could find. You didn't want them. They weren't even letting you battle with them; they just wanted you to look pretty with them. Just stand, obey. Look perfect, because you have no skill of your own. The people called you a faraway rose - a flower of sorts. You only basked in what was given to you, given everything without even trying with your own ability and skill.
[break][break]
This frustrated you.
[break][break]
They thought that everything as easy for you. You got what you wanted, you got everything with just the snap of your fingers. Even though you just wanted a normal life. Even though you would swap your life for anyone else's in the blink of an eye, they still called you a spoiled brat. When you didn't speak, they called you rude. When you spoke, they called you egotistical. What did they want you to do, anyways? You couldn't understand, and eventually you just didn't want to understand.
[break][break]
When you turned 10, you were allowed a journey. It was perhaps the only time where your parents heard you out, claiming that it would be bad for their own image if their daughter was unable to fend for herself as a strong, elegant trainer. Again with the crap. And yet you were happy that they allowed it, and they even let you have a pokemon of your own choosing. With that you knew, you brought three pokemon out on your journey; Budew, Snivy, and Scatterbug.
[break][break]
You trained with your pokemon. You battled, you caught. You grew. For the first time ever, you felt like a normal kid. You felt free, you felt fine. However, your parents called you back shortly after your sixteenth birthday to confine you behind the walls of your house. You were agitated, you were infuriated. You begged, but your pleads befell deaf ears. They took your team and forced you to participate in the pokemon league tournaments, and ruthlessly trained both you and your pokemon all so that you would be perfect. It wasn't a lot to work with, seeing that you specialized in grass pokemon.
[break][break]
And yet you won both the first and second tournaments. You were able to barely make it, but it seemed as though your parents were happy to have something to brag about. That is, until your third tournament. You lost in the semi-finals, and you could feel the dread crawling up your back. Your parents shunned you with disgusted for the next few weeks, and for the first time you actually felt genuine hostility towards your parents.
[break][break]
But you held it in.
For the longest time, you lived in the shadow of your parents. You travelled to different regions for vacations and the like. You caught a Petilil in Unova, and you caught a Fomantis and Bounsweet in Alola. You worked as hard as you could, and your efforts were recognized by many of the larger families in the Lyeant Region. You were given the title Rose, for both your elegance and modest nature in both battling and behaviour in general. Your future was looking forward, it was bright.
As you grew even older, you were able to become one of the council members in the Pokemon Association. Your parents were proud; they were ecstatic. Not for you, but for themselves. The selfish jerks (for lack of a better word) basked in your own achievements, claiming that you couldn't have done it without their wonderful raising. Your family was corrupt, and they most certainly were not loyal. After the war, your parents intended to move over to Parallax - and move to Parallax they did. They wanted to bring you over, but you claimed that you still had work to do in the council. They respected your wishes, saying that you must however come to Irisia after you have finished your business.
[break][break]
You were well known for your fairness and rationalism. You were diligent, you were kind. You only sought out the best for both people and pokemon. You were a respected figure. You were a role model...
[break][break]
But you felt like all that was a hoax.
You left them.
[break][break]
You betrayed them.
[break][break]
You will never forget those words uttered from them.
[break][break]
You left the council - you left the association. This left many people in confusion, for you were doing so well. Why, oh why did you leave so suddenly? Many speculated that you left to follow your parents, however they were surprised to hear that you left. You left to join the Republic - they who welcomed you with open arms. But this once again brought up the question of 'why?'.
[break][break]
They were the only people who treated you without your title. They were the only people who spoke to you as an equal. They didn't try to please you, and their motives were noble. You cared not for the process, so long as the result was benevolent. You believed in this - you believed in the liberation of pokemon. You saw how ruthlessly some trainers treated their pokemon, and you saw how greedy your own parents were. All those who didn't deserve pokemon, had all the pokemon they could ever want. All those who should have them, lacked them. What type of world was this?
[break][break]
One where they could tell you what you can, and cannot be?
[break][break]
You wanted to change that. You were done being the doll of your parents.
[break][break]
You were done being the flower. They wanted petals? You gave them thorns.
