minuses lost, unassuming, naive, absentminded, afraid, capricious, simplistic, instinctive
- both want to fulfill their responsibilities (manaphy's is finding home, caspian's is their job).
- both are simplistic, though for different reasons:
- manaphy is still rather young and wants to grow up so it can catch up with the rest of the world.
- caspian doesn't like critical thinking because she thinks "thinking too hard" is exhausting.
- caspian wants to prove that their blindness is not an obstacle; manaphy is still coming into its own identity.
- both have to talk themselves into being brave.
- right now, manaphy is taking up the most mindspace while caspian is in the background trying to make sense of things.
- manaphy isn't really aware of caspian's presence (yet). however, caspian is very much aware of manaphy but can't do anything at the moment.
- both are separate personalities residing in caspian's head, with manaphy unwittingly becoming the dominant one.
- their situation can be summed up in this quote: "phenomenal cosmic POWERS - itty bitty living space."

I've been staring at the edge of the water[break]as long as I can remember, never really knowing why |
[attr="class","tbeapponebio"]
[attr="class","tbeapponebio2"]
You blink and stare blankly at nothing. You feel and hear rain pouring down on you.
[break][break]
What are you doing here?
[break][break]
Move.
[break][break]
You scramble up onto your feet, nearly slipping and sliding across the deck in your hurry, but you hold onto the rail fast. That single word keeps echoing throughout your mind as you slowly feel your way up to the mast. Thunder rumbles ominously in the distance. You tie the sails down, crawl to the steering wheel, and crouch unsteadily as you attempt to navigate your way back home.
[break][break]
But... where is home?
[break][break]
A sudden wave crashes into the starboard side of your dinghy and you're thrown off-balance. For a terrifying moment, you're free-falling and then -
[break][break]
nothing.
You hear distant shouting. Your ears are ringing and your head is pounding painfully. Everywhere hurts. Briefly, you wonder if you're dead. There are soft cries next to your head - you recognize them as your Corsola.
[break][break]
"Caspian! Caspian!"
[break][break]
Who's Caspian?
[break][break]
Someone lightly slaps your face. Repeatedly.
[break][break]
"Oi, wake up!"
[break][break]
Ouch. It hurts. You tell the person that and they stop. Then the person starts shouting and a pair of arms lift you and carry you away. Your Corsola's cries get more panicked and you worry. You don't know where you're going, but you're fading out fast.
[break][break]
You drift into unconsciousness.
People tell you that you were lucky to survive that storm and ask you what you were doing out there. You don't know, you say. Then they ask more questions you don't know the answers to. You keep telling them that you don't know.
[break][break]
They whisper among themselves that you must've lost your memories because of shock. But to lose memories of everything about yourself?
[break][break]
"What's your name?" Someone asks you.
[break][break]
"I don't know," you repeat yourself like a broken record. "I don't know."
The first few weeks are rough for you.
[break][break]
Apparently, you are a fisher in Irisia and you live with a roommate. Your roommate is a lovely, kind, and soft woman who sounds very sad whenever she talks to you. For some reason, your heart clenches whenever you hear her speak.
[break][break]
You seem to remember where things are in your house, how to navigate, all the practiced motions of living. The hard part is trying to remember everything else. Your name, for starters, is all but a mystery until your roommate tells you your name - Caspian Alagona. The second mystery is your birthday - February 26th. The final mystery, and the most frustrating one you encounter, is your roommate's significance to you.
[break][break]
She is so gentle, so kind. You can't help but notice her closeness, her care, her feel. She feels warm, familiar. You keep coming up with excuses just to hold her hand. She means so much to you, and you don't know why. Maybe it's because she's the first one to not pity you when you were found on the shores. Maybe it's because she's willing to help, but she doesn't baby you. Maybe it's because she's the anchor to your sea of confusion. Is that why you feel comfortable with her?
[break][break]
You're left with more puzzle pieces than you started with.
A fragment. A dream. A memory.
[break][break]
Parallax promises a bright future for a broken region that sorely needs hope. You feel as though you owe Parallax something after what the organization had done for your hometown. Maybe it can do the same for the other broken towns and cities. What you don't consider is the fact that there is a price for this kind of healing: living without Pokémon. Yet you grew up with Pokémon your whole life, it's unimaginable to live without them. But Parallax, they offer a solution: an experimental surgical procedure to gain sight.
[break][break]
It's a tempting offer, one that you consider for a while with her before -
[break][break]
Thefragment, dream, memory ends there.
The sea calls you.
[break][break]
In your dreams, in your waking days, at nights, when you're at most vulnerable - the sea calls you. Everyday, you go out and sit on the docks. You listen to Wingull cries and smell the ocean breeze. You feel more restless than ever.
[break][break]
One word comes to mind whenever you sit out at the docks: home.
You blink and stare blankly at nothing. You feel and hear rain pouring down on you.
