Raikou looked around as she felt odd, there was a certain phantom force that seemed to make her move. There wasn't supposed to be life still flowing through these veins. How could she see, was she going to see Arceus now? Perhaps she would finally be able to look herself away with one of her favorite books and have one of her companions, Suicune or Entei visit her whenever she got lonely. Without actually having to eat or having to worry, oh wait. As Raikou could see more clearly she noticed a figure. A rainbow bird, when she noticed it she immediately felt entranced. This bird had clearly done something to bring Raikou back to life, she thanked it with all of her heart. Then she felt her eyes get heavy. Raikou fell asleep.
There was a new warmth, Raikou wondered what it could be. Was it the bird again? Raikou had no idea how long it had been since she last had fallen asleep. There was a new hint of life to this warmth, what was it? A sort of warmth that seemed to allow for limitless growth, how it felt like it could grow with limitless potential, but this potential, it was strong, much stronger than Raikou believed that a human could ever be. She saw a very noticeable hat. It seemed like it made the person a sort of androgynous character. She had eyes that cared, though she seemed like she could never do anything wrong. Then Raikou got to wondering, where was that bird. She had to repay her savior.
Raikou found out. She knew what she had to do. She needed power. Power that could only be gained through a human's willpower.
She decided to test those that were recognized by other humans. She started with a boy, he showed promise. He was much too weak, there must be someone who was stronger, his bird Pokemon stood now chance against the embodiment of lightning herself.
She found someone, someone who had trained in the same conditions as Raikou. Someone who knew how thunder felt and knew the price of war. Huh?The price of war, what was this feeling that Raikou felt in her heart? The feeling of a struggle that cost had cost a life, well, of course, she knew of something that cost had cost a life. Why did she feel so close to this new trainer? Was it his eyes? Had they seen the same things that she had seen? The ears then? Heard the same blood-curdling cries that made anyone break through a bit of their morality? And what were these vivid thoughts coursing through her mind? Raikou figured that whatever it was, she didn't want to know the full truth, so she pushed it to the back of her mind.
They were on something new, a train. The veteran, as she had grown to call him, used her to break apart the train cars, something that needed to be done so that they could rush to fight the masked man. She agreed with his all or nothing attitude. It carried the weight of someone who knew opportunity cost and how costly that the decision could be. She thought that the veteran could be enough, but what was it that held him back? Was it something in the back of his head? A new spark of life that he wanted to go towards? A new meaning? Had he found something worth living for that was so important to him that battle wasn't at the forefront of his mind? Did he have troubled thoughts? What could this man have believed in that dampened his usual fierceness? He lost. Raikou moved on.
Raikou found another boy, one with golden eyes, with him Raikou made her final stand against the man who had caught her benefactor. Had Raikou been in the man's shoes she had no idea how she would have handled the same pain that he felt. Through his ideas he came to the knowledge of how within the constraints of his power that he could save them. His family. Something that Raikou had never known, what was a family? A group that was connected by blood? So it may say in a textbook, but Raikou believed something else upon seeing that man who had gone to such lengths, knowing there would be a horrible backlash from his own kind to save some Lapras that seemed to bear no physical resemblance to the man. Raikou felt a tug at her chest a horrible pain. Still, her honor drove her to save her benefactor, that Rainbow Bird.
When it was finished Raikou decided that she must find a place to clear her head. She dashed across the land of Johto, hoping to find an answer.
Raikou was called upon by a girl this time. A girl with purple hair. She said that Raikou would be used to challenge people in a far-off place. A place where people would be forced to go all out, to see how far they could get with their own willpower and determination, as well as their bonds. What would a bond feel like? Would Raikou ever find out what it felt like to become close to a person? Would this person hold any bearing upon the rest of her life? It would seem not.
The next time that Raikou was released out of the Pokeball she felt the weakened willpower of the girl. The next thing that Raikou knew it was bound by the power of the encapsulating device to do a horrendous thing. It seemed that willpower didn't matter if there wasn't enough power to back it up. The boy stood no chance against Raikou, who she now can say had an awful hairstyle. The girl soon could stand no longer as she crumpled to the ground, with no power but the very least to keep her organs functioning to maintain life. Raikou decided that with such a weak trainer trying to call upon her that her time would be spent better elsewhere. But where?
It was a stormy night when she met that boy. The boy and his dying friend, they were a pair that Raikou still held dear to her heart. An Umbreon and his companion, one gone too soon, one that must stay much longer. Raikou had heard from Reshiram how to merge souls with a person, an act that seemed so frightening, yet so perfect in this moment. The Umbreon seemed as though he couldn't bear the death of his companion, this Cassia. He said something along the lines of a life gone for no decent reason, could that be the truth? Maybe Raikou could ease his pain, in time maybe they could become good companions as well. The boy's vision was clouded by the rain, by his tears, by the toxins that seeped out of his body. Raikou appeared in front of the boy and without knowing exactly the words to speak, spoke. "Do you want to save her? Halfling?" The boy seemed to be at a loss for words. "What's the cost, an arm and a leg? More death? How long will this war last?" Raikou knew nothing of this war, nothing of this cost that he spoke of, yet something still nagged at her. Why did war seem so familiar? Finding the words to speak again somehow Raikou explained, "She will still live yet she will share another life in the same body, she will gain power that she cannot control herself, but you will still be able to continue communicating with her, the life will not be lost on this stormy night. The Umbreon, Sora, nodded he responded with a faint, "No matter what the cost, I refuse to lose anyone else."
As Cassia merged with the girl, she heard a faint whisper, not as masculine as the Sora's, much more petite sounding Thank you, I hope you don't mind sleeping a little before I wake up again. And with that, the night ended.
Sora refused for Cassia to partake in the war, it was an occasion that he believed a legendary should have no part of, too bloody, too many lives were already lost, it needed to be ended but it was not within his beliefs that a legendary should soil their hands in this war.
Sora returned from the war one day, one he didn't know the end of. He seemed to be mentally drained that day like he simply wouldn't be able to function for perhaps a week or so. He carried a small girl back with him, she couldn't have been but twelve years old. Her name? Alice. Raikou had decided on a name for herself while going through Cassia's books on herbs, a study that she oddly found as interesting or even more fascinating that the first owner of this body. The name? Anise, a herb that brought energy, a herb that brought health to the heart. The day after Alice became part of the small family that Sora was gathering was when Cassia came back, she finally seemed to get over the exhaustion of exactly how close she had come to death and the two that inhabited the same body began to discuss among themselves the routine with their body.
Things have become relatively peaceful since those days of destruction, while it wouldn't be peaceful to a region such as Alola this seemed to be the new standard for Lyeant. Cassia had been given a job by a certain legendary at a cafe in the city of New Veherna, and she usually handled the life of the body from the beginning of the day to the end of her shift at the cafe. It was a peaceful life for her, one that she could have never lived without the intervention of Anise. So she believed that the legendary's use of her body was a warranted cost. Anise led a life more shaded than her counterpart, she believed that it was her job to prevent another war from starting, to save Cassia and Sora, and even the newcomer Alice from such heartache again. Sora had told her the story of Alice, one that the legendary would not soon forget. Oh how much she had become interested concerning their lives, so fleeting yet filled with so much joy, was it because of family? Anise hadn't yet noticed until she reflected upon it but when she did, all she could do was smile and feel her heart warm, this was the family that she was part of.
There was one request that Sora made to Anise, on behalf of his best friend. Find the man in Parallax who can fix Danny's memory, through any means. A selfish request of one who states that he wishes for no more conflict, but perhaps this Danny was just that important to Sora
Anise, along with the Pokemon that Cassia lent her could only be described as the embodiment of rain and thunder. Dashing around the skies, stepping so quickly on the clouds storm clouds she creates, roaring loud enough that there could be thunder on a day with no clouds. A roar that created enough pressure that those of weak will would stand helpless against the one who uttered it. Centella bringing rain clouds wherever she went. Able to create thunder with a single thought, being able to create cages of electricity to trap those who would disturb the peace or fight against the Republic that Sora and Alice seemed to ally with.
