whitley hasn't changed much in the past four years. she's still incredibly prone to going from placid to flustered at the drop of a hat, and her devotion toward n and team plasma remains prominent—as do some of their ideals. with strong feelings of repulsion toward any technology her former leader despised, she refuses to use her pokédex unless absolutely necessary and does not keep any of her pokémon confined in poké balls—making her quite the sight to see! despite this, she does not completely let her past define her, choosing to follow what she believes in with a spirited mindset. (her catchphrase is, "every day fight fight!")[break][break]
making friends isn't a difficult feat for whitley; in fact, she's quite amiable and is open to befriending others, even if their beliefs and morals differ from hers. unfortunately, she's rather guarded, isolating her secrets from anyone whom she does not yet trust. she also still has issues dealing with annoyingly persistent people and prefers to avoid them as best as she can. furthermore, she tends to overthink some situations, leading to rather humorous—or embarrassing—scenarios.[break][break]
one of the most noticeable changes in whitley's disposition is the fact that she's matured quite a bit. she no longer speaks in the third person like she used to, and she is better at realizing her own emotions. (she still hasn't perfected this skill, however!) the other conspicuous difference can be seen on the battlefield. she no longer attempts to hold back her strength, as she believes it's no longer abnormal of her to be such a competent trainer. of course, whitley won't overwork her pokémon to the point of exhaustion, nor will she let others do the same.[break][break]

The first thing you notice when you wake up is a throbbing sensation in your head. It disorients you, drawing your focus away from trying to figure out where you are. When you finally manage to turn your attention to your surroundings, you are overcome by immense confusion. You're in a hospital. By your side is a Foongus—a friend of yours whom you affectionately named "Foongy". For a couple minutes, it's just the two of you. The sound of the door opening catches your attention; you turn your head just as someone, likely a nurse, enters. The relief on her face soothes you a little. She shifts half her body out the hallway and calls to what you presume are more doctors and nurses. Two more enter—another nurse and a doctor, or so you presume. The next half hour or so is a blur. You recall being asked a bunch of questions, some you could answer, some you couldn't. After that, the staff members speak using a bunch of medical jargon; you tune out most of it because you cannot comprehend what it means. However, you can remember one statement clearly, something that will change your life forever:[break][break]
"You have amnesia."[break][break]
They say it's retrograde amnesia, which means you should be able to recall details from your past (which you do). However, you are unable to remember a number of events that occurred before the trauma. You are told there is good news and bad news: The good news is that you have may be able to recall these memories through being exposed to something related to them, such as a newspaper article or a person. The bad news is that this method isn't infallible, so there's a chance some memories may never return. After some more questioning, they leave you alone to gather your thoughts. You're overcome with a wave of emotions. Confusion, frustration, fear, sadness—they amalgamate, leaving you rather overwhelmed. You decide to sleep them off, hoping you'll be able to better collect your thoughts tomorrow.[break][break]
Fast forward a couple days. You have had plenty of time to think since you first woke up in the hospital and have decided the first thing to do is start from one of the last memories you can recall and see where that gets you. Unfortunately, while you have a feeling there's something very important to you, your brain doesn't seem to want to cooperate. You try the next day, and the day after, and so on. Each attempt is a failure, which frustrates you. Eventually, a week has passed, and you are discharged from the hospital. The nurses finally decide to give you your other belongings, though the hesitant, concerned looks on their faces tell you there might be something you don't want to see. You receive a handbag; oddly enough, it's lighter than it appears. Though you wonder if the nurses withheld something from you, you decide it's more important that you leave and start searching for clues that could help you recover your memories.[break][break]
Luckily, you are familiar with the city you ended up with and are able to get around. You seek out a hotel so that you may rest for the night and have an opportunity to go through your belongings. Fortunately, you find out early on that one of the items is a wallet with enough money to pay for a night. Once in your room, you take no time opening the handbag and dumping its contents onto the bed. Out of all the items—most commonplace in a girl's bag—there are a couple that catch your attention. The first is a strange device of sorts; your mind tells you it is a "Pokédex" and should be loathed. (You can't help but wonder why you had it on you if that is the case.) The other is a set of gray-and-white clothing. You unfold it, unveiling a uniform of sorts that resembles something a knight from centuries ago might have worn. The attire seems alien to you until your eyes fall on the insignia. Suddenly, the face of a green-haired man surfaces in your mind.[break][break]
N.[break][break]
From there, you begin remembering snippets of your life from some time ago. You were a member of Team Plasma, whose goal was to liberate Pokémon from Trainers. Both you and your mother loyally followed its leader, N, up until his disappearance. The liberated Pokémon you cared for were freed save for Foongy, whom you were allowed to keep by your side. You were then given a pendant with Lord N's photo inside. A quick inspection of your belongings tells you that you likely lost the pendant; without any memory of how you lost it, you fear it is gone for good. Regardless, you now have something to go on, a starting point that could potentially lead you to discover your lost memories.[break][break]
Find N, find your memories.
You decide to travel the Unova region in search of N. With Foongy at your side, you're not afraid of being attacked. Still, you're aware that you'll need more Pokémon to be even safer; at the same time, you're reluctant to coax any to join you because you think they should be free. Eventually, you decide your safety is more important and choose to befriend Pokémon who invoke a sense of nostalgia in you—Pokémon the same species as those you looked after. You decide to have no more than six total, as you detest the idea of others being confined to a PC. Because you were also taught that Poké Balls are bad, your entire team follows you wherever you go. This incites plenty of odd looks from passersby; however, you pay them no mind because you firmly believe what you're doing is the right thing. On the downside, many facilities, including hotels and inns, wouldn't take kindly to you having your Pokémon out and refuse to serve you. Most nights are spent out in the wilderness; fortunately, you have a Houndoom and a spare set of clothing to drape over you as a blanket, so you never have issues with being cold.[break][break]
Occasionally, you partake in Pokémon battles—you don't want to even more attention to yourself, after all. Eventually, all of your Pokémon become fully evolved except Foongy, whom you choose not to evolve because you believe he could be key in helping you recover your memories. Unfortunately, after half a year, you're no closer to recovering your memories—or finding N—then you were when you stayed at that hotel. You visited places you and your mother used to visit all the time, and you even went to what you thought was your home, hoping you would find her. But she wasn't in any of those places. Seeing as you can't remember where she may have gone, you decide tracking her down is a lost cause. Other than her, you're not sure whom to trust, so you avoid asking random people for help. Without access to libraries—all the ones you tried restricted you from bringing in your Pokémon—you couldn't look up articles that could help you.[break][break]
One day, as you're deciding where to go next—you're considering scouring the region again—someone calls out your name. You turn to face them, your expression twisting into confusion. They catch on fast and tell you they were a friend of your mother's when you and she were a part of Team Plasma. You ask where she is, only to be told that he didn't know, that you and your mother disappeared sometime after N departed. When you ask about Lord N, he shakes his head sadly and says he was likely in another region. After conversing a little longer, you thank him for his help and depart.[break][break]
You're conflicted. On one hand, you want to remain in Unova, as it is possible you overlooked something that could help you recover your memories. However, seeing as you thoroughly inspected the places you thought would have something and found nothing, you have doubts that you'll have better luck if you searched a second time. On the other hand, you would have to leave Unova to travel to another region in search of N. You're unfamiliar with the other regions, and you don't even know which one N may be in. It takes you a few days to make your decision. You decide to risk going to another region; after collecting enough money through battles, you reserve a space on a ship leaving the following day. Luckily, they allow Pokémon to remain outside of Poké Balls provided they don't hurt anyone. When you're at the docks, you hesitate a little before deciding what you're doing is for the best. You board the ship and bid farewell to Unova as it departs.[break][break]
The moment you step off the ship, you feel overwhelmed by how different things appear. It takes you a few days to adjust to the new region; however, once you do, traveling is no longer scary. You go from city to city, town to town, hoping that N is nearby or was recently spotted. Months pass; eventually, you've covered the majority of the region. Unfortunately, your luck was as poor as it was in Unova, so you become certain N's not there. Thus, you decide to go to the next region. And the next. And the one after that. After three or so years, you've traversed across four regions previously alien to you. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh—no matter where you went, no matter where you looked, your leader could not be found.[break][break]
Seeing as it's been a long time since you first developed amnesia, you're worried you've passed the point of being able to recall your memories. Yet you still won't give up. You want to believe there's still a chance your memories can be found. Thus, you decide to try yet another region. This time, you decide to carefully select which region to visit next.[break][break]
You will find N. You will find him, and you'll get your memories back. Or so you hope.
You hear rumors. Rumors of a region wrecked by war. Rumors of discord amongst the people who wish to rebuild the land from the razed ground. Rumors of a faction that seeks to confine Pokémon for "the safety of people". Rumors of a faction that fiercely opposed the aforementioned one. Intrigued, you ask around for more information about the Lyeant region you've been hearing so much about. After confirming the rumors, you come to the conclusion that N likely received word of the ongoing dispute and had joined the cause against Parallax. Before you decide to board a ship to Lyeant, you do a little more thinking. You realize that there's a possibility your leader is not yet there; however, you're certain he'll learn about what's going on and travel to the region in a heartbeat. Thus, traveling to Lyeant is your best course of action.[break][break]
A few days after arriving—after familiarizing yourself with New Veherna and a little more of the region's history—you align with the Republic. You find an apartment in New Veherna that allows Pokémon out of their Poké Balls, as you figure you'll be there for a while. Before involving yourself, you choose to observe what people are doing, how they're involving themselves in the fight against Parallax. Some remind you of Team Plasma. Others take a more aggressive approach; you don't agree with what they're doing, but their motives are likely noble, right? Of course, you keep a lookout for N. You haven't found him yet, but you have a strong feeling you'll meet him here someday.[break][break]
A new place, a new life. Will you find N? Will you find your memories? Only time will tell.
