For millennia upon millennia, the Dragon Lord remained above the world's ozone layer, flying around practically endlessly. When it descends, it does so for two reasons: to rest in an isolated location—its favorite spots were the Embedded Tower in Johto and Sky Pillar in Hoenn—and to bring an end to Groudon and Kyogre's fierce clashes.[break][break]

While resting within the Embedded Tower, Rayquaza was found and captured by the Pokémon Association. For a period of time, the dragon was contained in a research facility, its life at the mercy of researchers. Luckily, a rogue Salamence destroyed the facility, releasing Rayquaza from its prison.[break][break]

Five years after its containment, Rayquaza was found by a man and young boy while resting atop the Sky Pillar. The two managed to wake the Dragon Lord and convince it to take them to Sootopolis City to bring an end to Groudon and Kyogre's feud yet again. There, the dragon's roar, combined with the Red and Blue Orbs brought the legendaries' fight to a standstill. Once both had gone back into a deep slumber, Rayquaza attacked its controllers before fleeing back into the sky.[break][break]

Five more years had passed before Rayquaza was needed yet again, this time to prevent a giant meteoroid from destroying the planet. The Dragon Lord was once again sought out and discovered near the facility that once held it captive. Once again, the dragon fought back; however, it managed to be subdued by way of an orb held by a young man. Some aggressive outbursts and the impaling of one of its worshipers later, the legendary headed into outer space with the aforementioned man and a young woman on its back. With their help, Rayquaza was able to Mega Evolve and strike down the meteor, along with the Deoxys that emerged from it. After taking the two back to Earth, the dragon ascended, free once more.[break][break]

Rather than return to space or to one of its resting places, the Dragon Lord decided to live among the humans, having become bored of its usual routine. She sought a human vessel worthy of harboring it, one who held a position of power and proved to be capable as a Trainer. Eventually, it discovered a woman who served as a Capo in some mafia (it'd get the details later). Impressed by the female's capabilities, it took over her body, taking on the first name of the only worshiper allowed to ride its back. The last name, Pendragon, came from some lore it picked up half a millennium or so ago. The sudden change in moniker was expressed as a need to take on an alias. It was generally accepted, though some remain skeptical to this day.[break][break]

Despite the mafia's affiliation with Parallax, the Dragon Lord discovered its vessel sided with the Republic, with a commitment to not interfere with certain Parallax activities. It had no qualms about these terms, actually rather satisfied that the vessel chose what it thought to be the "right" side.[break][break]

Of course, it hadn't forgotten about Groudon and Kyogre. Unsure whether they, too, had taken on a human vessel, the great dragon knew that there was a sliver of a chance it would need to leave to break up yet another idiotic dispute between the two.
