Remember that one guy from your life that says dude too much? That about explains Jou in a nutshell. But Jou is a very happy kind of dude, and doesn't mind that. He seems so friendly, that even a ghost could approach him and find some reasonable amount of joy in holding a conversation with him. Added to that, he smiles too much. A man who enjoys company, Jou is so relaxed, going to a masseuse might do him damage. He would be the spa in itself,
and the go-with-the-flow attitude of his is reflective of that trait. However, he also doesn't think too far ahead because of his relaxed demeanor, only ever thinking a step or two ahead of the curve, if even that much. Carpe diem is a good mentality to him, and it hasn't failed him. Yet.[break][break]
Aside from this, he faces danger with a shrug, and pats it off his shoulders, walking headfirst into it with reckless abandon, but he prefers if danger comes down to it, that his Pokemon should be ultimately safe. He cares so deeply for his four 'amigas' that he's willing to act as a shield to them; no matter how damaging or lethal that may be to his own well being. To give an idea, he's broken his arm to keep Bubbles (his Marill) from falling thirteen feet onto the ground and hurting herself.[break][break]
Friendship and love are so easy for Jou to get accustomed to too, and any boy, girl, or non-binary who catches his eye romantically will be given a relaxed partner, who puts his all. Also, he likes not wearing a shirt, so for partners who enjoy that, it's right there. Tan-skinned man-abs. It's for a tan, so he says. Otherwise, friends will be given the chillest, wisest guy around, with loyalty that will last forever.

- After a scare, Jou finds a nearly dead Azuril, and takes it home with him, abandoning school at the age of 17 to make sure the little thing didn't die. His parents reluctantly allow this, since Jou can't be torn away from the little thing.[break][break]
- Night after night, taking care of this malnourished Azuril, sleeping by the blue mouse's side, Jou eventually names her Bubbles and proceeds to take her as his own. Never having felt this connection before, Bubbles evolves on the spot into Marill. The two bond and are in sync.[break][break]
- Jou and Bubbles happen upon a Popplio, abandoned for the way he looks. Crying upon a rock, the little guy is waiting for his master to return. Jou takes matters into his own hands, waits for a week in the same spot with the Popplio, to no avail. Offers a home, someone who cared enough to stay with the sea lion Pokemon for a week while his master left him to rot. Fantasia joins the party, now one of Jou's most showboaty Pokemon.[break][break]
- A trip to Lilycove leads Jou to find a traveling salesman, who is practically 'giving' away a free Magikarp to every newcomer. However, the salesman doesn't know they have a Feebas, and gives Jou the accidental dirty fish.
Taking this as divine providence, Jou asks her what she wishes. She wishes to be beautiful. And now she's a Milotic,

- Jou moves over to Lyeant, unaware of the devastation the region has had, not being one interested in news. Heads there on a boat, with his four Water type family members at his side.

Surfer dude with a cast of fun little Pokemon that he doesn't intend to expand past his four unless one really works with, this guy will be your best friend and give some honest 'righteous' wisdom. Added to loyalty, what you get is the chillest guy alive. With abs. That speaks for itself. He's a bit too laidback though, not taking things too seriously, but his love for his Pokemon is one thing that is serious; to the point where hurting himself is a liability over simply a possibility. Also, guy isn't too smart.
