TWO YEARS AGO, A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION GOING BY THE NAME TEAM IMUM WRECKED CHAOS ACROSS THE LAND, DAMAGING CITIES AND KILLING THOUSANDS OF CITIZENS. While Imum itself has long since been disbanded, however, the region remains broken: entire towns have been laid to waste and the Association struggles to find homes for those who were lucky enough to survive the attempted genocide. Reconstruction trudges on as usual... but with three factions - the Association, the corporations, and the people - each wishing to take the rebuilding of an entire region down opposite paths, how long will it be before Lyeant's last leg gives out permanently?

Care to hear about our lord and savior Operation: Mindcrime? In all seriousness: Hello, hello! I'm Pharaoh Leap – or just Leap – local head admin and rock opera enthusiast. On the rare chance you catch me in a time when I'm not bawling about characters entirely written into song, you may see me actually doing work around the site, like skinning, making too many characters, and encouraging others to also make too many characters. I only know how to write angst, and in no fewer than six trillion words an app or post, so if you like dying while reading like I like dying while writing, I'm the girl for you. ;o
Howdy guys! The names Astro and I am your resident Brit & Red muse (you'll honestly see me more on him than any of my other characters). I'm a moderator and my main job is to make sure everything is running smoothly so the Admins can focus on other things, you'll often see me within the apps and shops, etc when I'm not on Red. What can I say about myself? Apart from being a Red fanboy I like music and games and yaoi huehue, I honestly never now what to put into these sort of things but ohwell, I'm more of a "ask me and I'll tell" sorta guy. Anyway, from my personally I hope that you enjoy the site and what we produce here but also if you're new, please look around and if you like what you see please consider joining for rad plots that everyone gives! :D
Hey there~ Nano over here! I uh.. Wait, I'm doing this right, right? Bleh. So I'm a moderator over here - fun, fun - who kind of just.. Keeps an eye on everyone. You know, the whole app thing and what not. Uh.. Lets see.. When I'm not doing school work (because I may or may not be trying to be a good student) I'm probably storming up new ideas like events and etc. Or plots. Plots are always good, too. As you can see, I uh.. Have the horrible habit of making way too many characters. I swear, I was tempted with plots, ships and angst. It's like, the holy trinity. Uh.. What else is there about me? Oh, right! Please excuse my obnoxiousness. I'm just really loud in general so don't be surprised if I start screaming as loudly as I can caps. So yeah. Nice meeting you!

sayuri's profile
has been taken since the dawn of time yet still amazingly has yet to be in an official relationship. also known as fox and hound shipping. somehow after the imum war, she managed to make backward progress in becoming a more confident, social, and trusting person. she doesn't have very many friends, but she loyally cherishes the few ones she has made, at least those who are still around and show their faces every once in a while. arceus knows she is rather fond of a certain umbreon gijinka friend named Sora Kei Adler and wouldn't be opposed to spending even more time with him.[break][break]
ace as can be for the simple reason that she just doesn't see those things as important in the slightest compared to things like friendship and trust, and is incapable of being sexually attracted to anyone or anything. obviously the concept of 'flings' are out of the question, even if she did know those existed. does not appreciate advances from others in the slightest, nor romantic gestures from pretty much anyone but sora, but may be gullible enough to mistake some things as innocent acts of friendship.

Sayuri's most common demeanor on the outside is that of innocence, hesitance and shyness. Her eyes glance everywhere at once with both curiosity and paranoia, and never locking eyes with anyone or being caught looking at other people for long. Her usual disposition is either on her guard, as if she were expecting a sudden enemy attack at any second, or a neutral, self-conscious stance when under the eyes of other people. She is usually known by others to be very kind, polite, caring, thoughtful, patient, and humble. She can seem completely calm and peaceful when everyone else is panicking about a storm or invasion.[break][break]
Getting to know her, you'll quickly learn that Sayuri is a more quiet character than others, even for her age. Her social skills could always use some work, and she often keeps her thoughts and opinions to herself unless provoked. This is in order to protect herself from those who are incapable of not attacking anyone whose beliefs contradict their own. She often gets the label "shy," which she is never pleased to hear, as she consider herself to simply be a cautious introvert, that's all. She is surprisingly a proud and self-dignified person, and she doesn't tolerate others who disrespect her if she can help it. Sayuri is eager to forgive and forget, but she will hold grudges against people forever if nothing is done to right the wrong. She is a very patient person with her friends. Her great levels of patience, loyalty and perseverance are almost at a masochistic level. She is also very detail-oriented, a quick thinker, yet slow to pick up on others' emotions, feelings, jokes and riddles, though riddles still fascinate her. She is very bad at reading sarcasm, making her terrible with jokes and conversation even though she still really appreciates a witty pun.[break][break]
Despite her silence, Sayuri always has a lot on her mind, thoughts she rarely ever says out loud. Wordlessly, she is very strong-willed, powered by her determination and sheer stubbornness to reach her goals and achieve success for the sake of others. She can be incredibly inquisitive, and often does things all for the sake of that curiosity, but she pays for it less often than you would think. Her curiosity and eagerness for learning has rewarded her a good score of intelligence, and she's a pretty level headed person who tries to think rationally before jumping to a conclusion based solely on emotion. She is very competitive as she hates losing enough that she will try immediately to improve her skills so that she wins the next round, making her a potential jack of all trades sort of person.[break][break]
Due to her competitive nature, Sayuri likes to show off her skills. In pokemon battles, Sayuri is merciless on all of her opponents, and though she would never try to hurt them, she might come off as sadistic to her foes. She is a bit of a masochistic in that she tends to believe that it's good for her to endure pain, hardships, and the stress of being wronged. She's willing to endure all kinds of things for a greater goal such as strengthening the bonds of friendship by proving her loyalty. This manifests in reckless, but courageous actions of hers which often times have a high chance of getting herself hurt.[break][break]
But she's not foolish either, at least not foolish most of the time. She won't do something flat-out stupid, but in spars and combat, She isn't afraid to put herself in some pain to win. However, when the task at hand is serious, She takes no chances with any of her friends and comrade's lives, becoming as cautious as can be. Sayuri doesn't trust luck either and prefers to not use Pokemon Attack moves with accuracy under 90. Even though she distrusts luck, Sayuri believes in fate and destiny, and that following your destiny is the best way to go. Sayuri has a tendency to become ferociously protective of her friends, happy to bloody-up anyone who threatens them.[break][break]
Sayuri is best known for her strong and unflinching loyalty and urge to serve a master, king, queen, emperor, empress, or pharaoh whose goals are good. She needs someone whom she can protect and help carry out his or her ambitions of greatness for the world. She will fight that person's demons and protect that person with her life. Though not her main goal in life right now, she would happily like to find that kind of person and serve him or her with her strong sense of duty and righteousness.[break][break]
She is a deep thinker, but she is also very over-reactive, trained by her own paranoia to instinctively be ready to defend herself from danger at anytime. As courageous as she may be in the best times, she seems to be terrified by the concept of ghosts, spirits, and the paranormal, and can become very frightened when alone and in dark places. She didn't used to be, but Sayuri is a little bit afraid of the dark. She can't stop imagining that something is behind her, invisible to her in the darkness. Almost more afraid of being attacked by a demon is she afraid that she'll see something horrible there when she looks, so she avoids dark places when she can help it.[break][break]
Sayuri is very dependent on others' opinions and approval of her decisions on a mission. She doesn't trust her own knowledge of even her own culture, due to her lack of social skills, and relies on others' knowledge to be sure of her own decisions. But when it comes to her own beliefs, her own schedule, and every other time that she is alone, Sayuri is quite independent, able to take care of herself very well. Though she fears disapproval from others of higher rank, she loves dragon-like pokemon, cats and dogs, and drawing them very much, and she is willing to stand up for what she believes is right, even if it doesn't go along with the normal cultural tastes.[break][break]
Being a Vulpix gijinka, Sayuri does fear the cold, deadly wetness of water, and prefers to stay away from it. She can swim if she has to, not that she's a super good swimmer; she can doggy paddle furiously well enough to not drown, but the she still has a fear that she'll be dragged to the bottom, or get stuck in something underwater, and have a terrible death by drowning. Water and rock pokemon intimidate her, but she's not too afraid of them. What scares her are those giant, final stage ground types that attack you from below...[break][break]

Description
Physical appearance: At first glance, unless she is utilizing her illusion powers or outfit to disguise herself, it is easy to see that Sayuri is not fully human. As if the two species were morphed together, Sayuri shares the genes of a species of Pokemon known as a Vulpix, and this has manifested visually in the form of a pair of large, pointed fox ears replacing her real ones, and six fluffy red vulpix tails which reach down to her ankles. Her dark brown hair oftentimes looks black in low lighting, and glows a fiery orange when back-lit by a light source. When she gets deadly serious and taps into her vulpix powers, her burnt sienna eyes seem to light up like flames and shine red.[break][break]
Outfit: Sayuri is normally seen wearing a red and white, shrine maiden-like dress which includes an ankle-length skirt, a sash, and detached arm sleeves. Sayuri can usually keep her tails hidden under her outfit's skirt, but unless she uses her powers, her vulpix ears will be visible. In some cases, Sayuri has worn a knit hat to hide her gijinka identity, even though it clashed horribly with her outfit. For shoes, she usually either wears simple black shoes with a strap, or knee-high winter style boots.[break][break]
Abilities
As a fire type, Sayuri, a Vulpix Gijinka, can wield a few fire typed attacks. Water, rock and earth attacks are especially dangerous to her, but she can resist bug, ice, grass, steel, and fairy attacks. While most fire types also resist fire type attacks as well, Sayuri's Vulpix side has an ability called "Flash Fire" which gives her a complete immunity to fire attacks. Instead of taking a single ounce of damage, Sayuri uses the fire attack to power up her own fire attacks. Her battle moves are Flamethrower, Will-O-Wisp, Extrasensory, Energy Ball, Dark Pulse, and Nasty Plot, and she seems to have a Timid nature.[break][break]
Sayuri also gains the natural physical abilities of her vulpine spirit pokemon. She can run nimbly at very high speeds, leap higher than about twice her height and farther than five meters, and react and move with impressive agility and flexibility. She has a keen sense of smell that can easily identify people, track, and tell her about those she comes across, such as where they've been, what they've been doing, and whether they've experienced a high amount of stress recently by their fear scent. She can hear very subtle sounds, even activity happening far underground. Despite her vulpine senses, she does not have superior night vision. This is likely because her human side has very poor eyesight, and the vulpix part only makes up for it so that she does not require vision aid.[break][break]
One other unique ability she has as a Vulpix Gijinka is the ability to understand the words of other pokemon in their universal pokemon language, and the natural psychic ability to create an illusion about herself should she need to hide her identity as a Gijinka by making her Vulpix ears and tails invisible to the eyes. She can conjure up the illusion that she is either fully human or fully vulpix, but doing so requires high reserves of mental and physical energy. When exhausted either physically or mentally, Sayuri is unable to keep up an illusion, especially when her concentration is broken by other events in her environment.[break][break]
History
Sayuri calls home the unique region by the name of "The Lyeant Region." The region has a long and deep history that led to its founding as a brand new country in the great universe where Pokemon reside. Its early timeline was not without a great amount of strife in the form of evil organizations, evil leaders, and even corrupted government. Each time, however, the proud and powerful citizens of the region and their solders who trained pokemon would rise up to defeat the evil. But with every victory and growth of the nation, another issue would rise again. Lyeant became the first region where Gijinka began to appear for mysterious and various reasons. Despite the first recorded of the elusive and secretive Gijinkas being spotted in Lyeant, the half-human, half-pokemon people came from other regions as well where they knew to be their birthplace.[break][break]
Sayuri was actually born in the Sinnoh region. Her mother was a Ninetales Gijinka who had fallen for a human trainer. They loved each other very much, and her father even forgave her for hiding her true identity as a gijinka from him when he found out about it. Sayuri's father died from illness before she was born, and soon, her mother's gijinka secret was nearly found out by their neighbors. To avoid any further suspicion before it got out of hand, she moved out and escaped into the forest near the Sinnoh mountain range, as Gijinkas were still yet an almost completely unknown existence.[break][break]
Sayuri lived with her mother since birth in an abandoned shrine up on a mountain near Eterna City as a young Vulpix Gijinka. At first, she was raised as a vulpix, but her human nature could not be ignored either. She wanted to get out and make friends, and do the things that humans were doing. She wanted to go on a journey, but she kept this wish of hers a secret, since she wondered: how could a gijinka possibly train pokemon, and challenge the league like normal human trainers did?[break][break]
As soon as Sayuri was strong enough to defend herself from other wild pokemon that might want to hurt her, Sayuri's mother began letting her become a lot more independent. She was eight years old at this time. As a vulpix, it was like a human being about eighteen. Being a Gijinka, however, she was still a bit immature, and had much to learn. Once she was in her preteens, she became a lot more independent, to the point where she was out exploring around Eterna City more often than visiting her birthplace in the depths of the forest near the mountains and her mother. Her curiosity led her to want to get stronger, and just off the wild pokemon in the area, she trained herself and leveled up quickly.[break][break]
Eventually, she was old enough, in vulpix and human years, to leave home completely, and go on her own journey. Not yet to train pokemon, but just to become totally independent. From the start, her mother had taught her how to use her illusion-creating powers as a vulpix to disguise her image in order to look like a wild vulpix, but for the first time, she used them to look like a human, hiding her ears and tail. Sayuri was about fourteen years old at this time that she began her journey in the world of pokemon and pokemon trainers. [break][break]
Getting adjusted to everything was hard as could be. Sayuri was raised as an intelligent animal more closely than she was a sociable, cultured human being. There were a lot of awkward moments; more than each hair on her tails. Far too many times, she was given a strange look whenever she accidentally let her instincts take over, and she would chase and capture a nearby pachirisu with her own bare hands, instead of battling and capturing it like a trainer, or maybe just not chasing it at all because she's not supposed to be a canine with a high prey drive. Other times were when Sayuri learned the hard way about manners and things like that in today's culture. She learned everything the hard way.[break][break]
How her mother was living in the Sinnoh region, or even how she found a shiny charizard on Mt. Coronet, she'd never understood. On her journey, she recklessly made it a goal to go to Mt. Coronet deep in the Sinnoh mountain range, and find out what was on the other side. It was a bad idea at the time, but it was a part of her story that she doesn't regret. The journey was just as dangerous for her as anyone else. Even though her Ember attack could take care of the ice pokemon, she was nearly knocked out many times by all of the rock and ground types.[break][break]
Sayuri actually did eventually lose a battle to a Graveler, and nearly died on that mountain. She honestly had no clue where that shiny Charizard came from, but that is how she was rescued. Neji the shiny charizard found her, a knocked out Vulpix gijinka lying in the snow and with only hours left to live. She doesn't really understand why he rescued her either. Most charizards are usually more focused on their own goals, fighting all the other pokemon and proving their strength, but Neji says he couldn't just leave such a young vulpix person to die, and that Sayuri was, obviously different than all the other wild pokemon that he was used to seeing.[break][break]
Gijinkas were rare even back then. Nobody even knew it was possible for a human to exist with the powers and genes of a pokemon, and even then, it only could be possible for these gijinkas to pass on their gijinka genes under very limited and rare circumstances. In Lyeant nowadays, Gijinkas are a lot more common, even though they are still as rare as shiny pokemon. But in Sinnoh at that time, Gijinkas practically didn't exist. Except for Sayuri. Being knocked out, her illusion as a wild vulpix traveling alone was completely undone, and her secrets were revealed to all. Being in Mt. Coronet, she was lucky that the chances for her being seen by a human were little to none. Even hikers were hard to come by when traveling straight over the most dangerous parts of Mt. Coronet.[break][break]
Neji started a bonfire to keep Sayuri warm, then shielded her from the blizzard and cold winds with his body, and Sayuri recovered. Sayuri actually didn't name Neji when he joined her party. Being a Vulpix gijinka, she can speak to pokemon, and he told her his name. Their relationship since has never been that of a trainer and pokemon, but more like close friends who protected and trusted each other with their lives, with Neji being more the leader at the time. Sayuri felt really bad to treat him like her pokemon, and was hesitant to put him in a pokeball, but Neji insisted, wanting to be able to protect her while staying by her side, if ever she should need it, and so, after buying her very first poke ball, Sayuri let Neji join her team as her very first pokemon and destined pokemon partner for life.[break][break]
With Neji using Fly, they journeyed around Sinnoh and even tried challenging a Gym leader. The challenge didn't go well at all. Neji was plenty confident in his power, and it was his idea to battle when Sayuri met Volkner at Sunnyshore city, but even Neji's impressive power eventually succumbed to Volkner's electric attacks. It was Neji's first loss ever since he was a charmeleon and Sayuri's first loss as a trainer, and a huge blow to his pride. Sayuri doesn't know how long it took, but it felt like forever until Neji finally recovered from that.[break][break]
That loss didn't stop them from continuing to get stronger. Sayuri captured her very first pokemon, a female Meowth she named Sakura, and trained it together with Neji; they all trained together to get stronger. When among humans, Sayuri took on a disguise as a human, and when training in the wild against wild pokemon, she took on the disguise of a vulpix. Wild pokemon learned to stay far away from the pokemon team of a charizard, vulpix, and meowth. Her time, however, in Sinnoh, was not nearly as long as her time in Lyeant. [break][break]
Sayuri's recklessness which led to her being spotted by humans with her moving, living vulpix ears and tails was an event that she does not regret either in the overall course of her life story. Neji and Sayuri were battling some Pokemon scientists that they met in Sunnyshore City, a place that they tended to hang out at a lot. The scientists were interested in seeing if a shiny pokemon was stronger than a normal pokemon. Right from the get-go, Neji began pulverizing the scientists' team of Magnezone pokemon with his fiery attacks. Not wanting to lose either, the scientists began drugging their Magnezone pokemon with X Special, Dire Hit's, X Sp. Def's, and X Defense's, and before Sayuri and Neji knew it, the Magnezone were overpowering them. Really, the battle was far from fair. The scientists had several bottles of each drug and knew not how to quit and call it a game.[break][break]
But the haywire started when the Magnezone aimed a Zap Canon at Neji, missing completely, and hitting Sayuri. The attack knocked her clean out, and her illusion was shattered. Then the mad chase began. Those persistent scientists had to find out how Sayuri had grown Vulpix ears and tails. Neji immediately grabbed Sayuri and they began to flee, but that seemed only to fuel the scientists' curiosities. They screamed for Neji to stop, then had their Magnezones start discharging at Neji. Even already terribly injured from the electric attacks, Neji somehow had the determination to fly Sayuri from the danger as fast as possible. When the scientists began their pursuit, they were no match for Neji's speed.[break][break]
He took his trainer all the way to Lake Valor where he revived Sayuri with one of the revives she had saved money for in her bag, but in less than an hour, they found out that the scientists were already searching for them in Lake Valor, and continued their desperate escape. Thinking back on it, Sayuri's really touched that Neji tried so hard for her. He had only about thirty percent of his full health at that time, and didn't even grab a Hyper potion for himself during that whole ordeal, and saying he was just fine whenever Sayuri asked.[break][break]
The chase sent the two of them and Sayuri's pokemon all across Sinnoh, until they were staring east from Lake Verity. Even then, the scientists would not give up on their discovery until they had solid proof to bring back and feed into the news. Sayuri's whole life was probably at stake, and she was being chased around her home region at the risk of becoming a lab rat in a horrible way. That was when Neji and Sayuri decided to leave Sinnoh behind for whatever could be waiting for them in a land far away from Sinnoh.[break][break]
They did not know nor could guarantee that there was even another region out west, but anywhere was safer than Sinnoh at that time. To this day, most Sinnoh citizens had forgotten about the story of the aspiring young female Pokemon trainer with a ferocious black Charizard who was beginning to tear through every gym across the region before being bested by Volkner. Sayuri knew she would miss the place where she was born and raised, but she also was brave enough to take on the risk with her loyal charizard partner. They flew for many hours, and Neji had to land in the water several times to rest, using the fire in his belly to keep him and Sayuri afloat upon the waves. They really didn't care where the waves took them, but whenever Neji took to the air, they aimed west, away from Sinnoh.[break][break]
Even Neji's immense stamina combined with the longer breaks they took just drifting upon the waves, the journey was too exhausting for either of them. They were both fire types, and hated water, and being surrounded for miles in all directions with water, as well as all possibilities for water pokemon to show up at any time, was very nerve-racking for Sayuri at least. Neji was always looking confident as could be. The Staryu that Sayuri caught on route 223 and named Ryuko didn't last long at all using surf with its low stamina.[break][break]
They were all saved from total helplessness when a Magikarp appeared out of curiosity, wondering why two fire type pokemon, a charizard, and a vulpix, (since Sayuri used a Vulpix illusion on wild pokemon) were all the way out here, so far from land. Sayuri caught it, and quickly leveled it up so that it evolved into a Gyarados, and the journey from there was much easier. Neji got the rest he so desperately needed within his pokeball, and they all continued their traveling west, faster now that they were using a very capable water pokemon experienced in long distance oceanic travel. But even still, Sayuri's hopes for finding a new place to live were growing thin and strained.[break][break]
For all they knew, they could just be traveling around the world only to die of starvation and dehydration. This sea-journey took almost three days of hard, relentless travel: one and a half days with only Neji and Ryuko the Staryu, and one speedy fast day with Otohime the Gyarados. They were all ready to give up, until on the distant horizon just above the sea level, Sayuri saw Wingulls. Wingulls were sea bird pokemon, but even they always stayed close to shore, close to the place where they were born and raised, and where they could land safely and raise new offspring. [break][break]
The Wingull led Sayuri's party to land, which she and the team had never before longed for so much. Sayuri returned Otohime to her pokeball and practically collapsed on the banks of the Lyeant region. Neji came out of his pokeball and watched over Sayuri as she rested. This was how she got to the Lyeant region. From there, they explored around carefully, finding that the region was fairly new, at least to humans. What was unique was that all legendary pokemon had been known to visit the place.[break][break]
Sayuri met her most closest friend and most trusted ally, Sora, in the Lyeant region. She also caught several pokemon and trained them herselfself. When the malicious Team Imum brought terror to the region, like most other trainers living in Lyeant at the time, Sayuri fought them herself. She even faced off against the team's leader, Lorelei, even though she lost, and somehow managed to escape before her team was totaled. Sayuri got stronger, and with her close friend, Sora, who was an Umbreon gijinka, they fought off Team Imum alongside every other righteous trainer in Lyeant.[break][break]
Since all that drama and excitement, Sayuri never really got the time, since the day they met, to talk to Sora a very much at all in private, show their real selves as Gijinkas and come to terms with their hidden feelings for each other. For nearly three years after the battle against Team Imum, they had gone their separate ways for a while. Sayuri finally met back up with Sora one day when she was training in the most dangerous, dragon infested tower in the region and was nearly killed for her recklessness, and Sora appeared and saved her life in time.[break][break]
Things in Sayuri's personal life began to settle down as she and Sora teamed up to become traveling partners, even with Sora's job as a gym leader. She started a new job of hunting restless spirits with the Seers group for a short time, but the new change of occupation was quickly interrupted when the seers disbanded right away for some mysterious reason. The reputation and public approval of the existence of gijinkas like herself was also taking a turn for the worse. Even now, she still struggles the social tension and stigma around gijinkas like herself, and hides her gijinka identity with her illusion powers in public as best she can.
there is nothing left to take, but i still try to reach. try to swallow it all down, yet i can't seem to breathe. just a single pill of mine, nothing else would suffice - i take it in, now i'm alive. my phone is set on lock, and i don't really care. there's a tangle and a knot that i cannot repair. i'm a tragedy, i'm ugly, i'm trying to hide. i say "hello", then wave "goodbye". see me fall down - let me die here slowly. nothing goes right, not a trace of honestly. i'm to blame, so i'll remain. black, white; day, night; it's all the same. see it run down - cut away, no worries. say no more. i can surely say that i've had enough. i still refuse to believe.

PLOT IDEA #2 lay me right down, let me sleep, i'm restless. cover my eyes. when i'm up, i'll finally fade away, here, today. give me a reason: then i'll stay. if i could fly, if for only a moment, there wouldn't be such a need for casualty. i'm alone, and that is how it'll be.

"I could never find the right way to tell you;" Have you noticed I've been gone? "'Cause I've left behind the home that you made me." I will carry it along.
Calm down... Shizuka felt embarrassed to show such a weak side of herself to Sora, but she couldn't keep her ears and tails from quivering fearfully. Feeling her face heating up, she lowered her gaze to avoid meeting his and crossed her arms as if protecting herself. "For as long as I am able to protect you." She had, in her fretfulness, almost forgotten to expect a response to her earlier request to him, and her mind briefly blanked as she began searching from scratch for words to respond to him with while reviewing the meaning of what was just said to her. Protect her...? She was immensely touched by her dear friend's sentiment, and knew he always sincerely meant what he said. Shizuka raised her face again to offer him a smile of gratitude, though flushed as it was with emotion, even in the dim light that couldn't seem to brighten up such a somber place as this area.
Shizuka opened her mouth, about to say something when a sharp, but soft crack split the silence from the collapsed roof of a nearby house. With cat-like reflexes, the vulpix gijinka female flinched like she had been shot by a bullet seed, and a tiny "Kya!" escaped her throat as she hopped close to Sora's side, now visibly trembling while she stared wide-eyed in the direction of the sound. As soon as she could voluntarily control her muscles, her eyes began to faintly glow red, and Shizuka's chest rapidly heated up as she prepared to obliterate with fire the next thing that moved from their surroundings.
C-calm down...! She knew better than to lose control of herself through her wild emotions and instincts. How silly she felt to Sora, acting as if she were fighting for her life already when nothing had actually happened yet, and here she was barely keeping it together. Shizuka was an incredibly timid person, but it always took less than a millisecond for her to switch from "Flight" to "Fight" mode when confronting danger, and the more intense the danger felt to her, the more intensely her fighting spirit exploded forth. She had to compose herself though, and her body was halfway between being terrified and being ready to murder. She could no longer keep herself from shaking, but she could at least relax the flames that had fired up in her lungs and eyes. It wasn't like she couldn't shoot a fireball at once whenever she truly needed to, so there was no need to prepare or anything.
She was beginning to pant softly as her adrenaline slowed down, and her gaze flickered around with heightened awareness of all their surroundings, fearing what might pop out next or where the next spooky sound would come from. Shizuka remembered with a small start that she was practically leaning into Sora's side as if hiding from all the ghosts, and was about to move and give him his personal space when suddenly his arms came around her in a reassuring hug. Whether her temperature was rising quickly with the warmth of the hug, the blood rising to her face, or both, most of all, Shizuka felt like all her fears were instantly far, far away, and surrounding her was a great shield of protection. Yet also a multitude of colorful feelings burst from her mind at the realization she was being embraced by this person she considered so fondly. "Ah, S-Sora!?" She squeaked in confusion with a voice barely more audible than a whisper. She couldn't see whether her own face was going visibly red at this point under Old Veherna's dull lighting, and she couldn't see Sora's face either from this angle.
Despite her confused emotions at that moment, Shizuka absolutely had to conclude that she was very happy because of the hug.

"I could never find the right way to tell you;" Have you noticed I've been gone? "'Cause I've left behind the home that you made me." I will carry it along.
This land was almost completely inhospitable to civilization, so she was unpleasantly surprised to hear that a few thieves make Old Veherna their home location so that they can steal any valuables that might have been left after the region's collapse and the destruction and abandonment of places such as this. But this time, she didn't feel it too necessary to fight the thieves or anything unless they were stealing something that someone else presently declared belonged to them. But as an abandoned site with no one wishing to come back and at least clean up the place a little, perhaps anything left behind was free for the taking? Shizuka herself would much rather take anything she found to the lost and found in New Veherna where members of the Republic usually took up residence, but it was also highly likely that even the original owner was no longer around, and no one would claim it except to steal it. Shizuka, though she considered the Republic's ideals the most favorable of the three factions that had developed in recent years in Lyeant, did not really have a residence, even though she wasn't the traveling, gym conquering trainer she used to be, because perhaps as a natural-born gijinka, she felt better just resting in a nearby forest with her pokemon. Plus, she couldn't afford a house. She was considering renting an apartment if her new occupation here afforded it, because it wasn't like she didn't want to fit a little more into human society like.... a normal person, not a wild creature.
Wanting to help the situation in any way she could, Shizuka had found her way to a small spirit exorcising organization calling itself by the fancy title, "Seers." She signed up to offer her abilities to them as a somewhat seasoned trainer, and that is how she ended up on a mission to put to rest the source of some spooky rumors: ghosts of poor pokemon and human victims who lost their lives in the great Imum war that ravaged Lyeant so much. Many of these spirits were full of malevolence towards any living beings who could either be blamable for the region's current state and the spirits' demise, or enviable for simply the fact that they are so privileged to be alive and get to look down upon the dead. She definitely had the will and the skill to complete this task at an effortless level. The sharp irony here is that, however, she was afraid of ghosts herself. And that was the reason why she asked her dear friend Sora to accompany her on her first spirit extermination mission. Shizuka knew that having the company of someone she trusted deeply and also cared for very much ought to be more than enough to give her the courage to do her job without actually getting spooked by the ghosts. They passed further into the inner city, and now half crumbled rubble for walls reared up here and there.
From the details of the mission enlisted to her, she followed the clues through the abandoned city towards where it was rumored several malevolent spirits could be found, attacking anyone who came near. With her keen perception, she was able to sense the spirits' auras without needing her pokemon's help, and though she stayed very close to Sora and kept glancing at him to make sure he kept up, she lead the way as she tracked down her target. She couldn't help but feel an increasing level of nervousness, and thoughts of a horror story scenario where she would turn to look at him only to find he had vanished, perhaps spirited away by the ghosts somehow, or maybe the ghosts had begun messing with her senses, began flickering around in her mind, raising her anxiety quickly. Well, he was a dark type gijinka so obviously he would fare better against ghosts defensively than she, so maybe she was worrying more for herself than she realized, but she shyly wished she could hold his hand just to make sure at all times he was there. "Please stay close to me, Sora. She quietly requested to her companion, but her shakey voice surprised her, and she was suddenly flustered that now Sora could probably figure out that she was very nervous right now.

Though it takes her a while to open up and trust others, a friendship with Sayuri is, to a small percentage, attainable as long as the other individual is a mostly good person and most of all is polite and respectful. She is uncomfortable and shields most of her personality when others speak roughly or swear around her, and actually speaking to her in a nasty manor with the intent of conversing will get you the cold shoulder. But while she is extra wary of other people and quick to decide when they aren't folks she wants to open up to or get to know closer, she does desire a closer bond with someone she can trust and call a friend. Her orientation also encourages her to desire platonic relationships with others as friends whom she would give everything to support and protect once she found someone she could consider her best friend. Probably the biggest hurdle in becoming her trusted friend is to prove yourself trustworthy enough to learn of her identity as a natural-born gijinka and accept her as well as keep her secret from others, because otherwise she'll always have something big to hide which places a thick wall between her and potential close friends.
While Sayuri doesn't easily find reasons to consider someone else her enemy, there are plenty of things you can do to get yourself on the list of people she'd much rather avoid...or maybe even attack on sight, depending on the crime. Folks with ideals she doesn't agree with and fellas with the mouth of a sailor are just strangers she'd prefer not to hang out with, and perhaps actually doing or saying something to offend her would just earn you a cold stare of indifference, but a few people or groups have made themselves people she keeps in mind to heavily avoid, or maybe to attack and destroy as both self defense and offense. She normally is capable of beating up any thugs who try to attack her thinking she is a defenseless little girl, and she actually hates common criminals like murderers, thieves and such enough to attack them personally, probably to make sure they don't do it again or stop them in the act. Spider pokemon are her enemies and she will flamethrower to death ANY spider in her path.
Lorelei Ackermann She happens to have a little history with this powerful and dangerous person who did so much as Team Imum's leader for a time to assault the region and its inhabitants. A simple, but epic pokémon battle between herself as a trainer defending Lyeant, and Lorelei, set out to crush all opponents in her way, almost lead to her own demise and that of most of her pokémon. They all survived somehow, by playing dead in the rain after being beaten horribly by Lorelei's tyranitar, and now Shizuka is certain she would flee for her life if she ever crossed paths with this person again. She also kept note to avoid any other former team Imum members, including Lorelei's two best allies, the infamous Hataro and Felix, because those guys were probably bad news as well.
She has plotted plans with someone to the point that she has developed a crush on top of the deep bond of very close friendship she has with this person, and due to her incredibly high amount of loyalty, it's very highly unlikely she'd ever look at anyone else nonplatonically.
Sora Kei Adler "Fox and Hound Shipping" Shizuka met him a number of years ago, and right off the bat, they discovered and revealed their gijinka identities while immediately setting up a higher level of trust than she would offer to any one else. Since they were at a similar age and had an easy time getting along with each other as friends and ally trainers, they caught up and hung out often, and helped each other out, especially during times of strife for the Lyeant region. At one point, Sora miraculously came to her rescue and saved her life when she got ahead of herself training against powerful dragon pokémon at the old castle of the sky before it was destroyed by Lyeant's recent events. The enemy numbers wore her team down enough that she was brutally defeated and heavily injured herself, since she'll participate in her pokémon battles if she needs to protect her own team or as a last stand when all of her team have fainted, and being all alone, she would have risked actually getting killed (again) if not for the dark type gym leader's arrival and aid. Nowadays, they stick together nearly all the time, with the region in shambles and the need to keep close tabs on each other in case of danger. Shizuka hopes their relationship will progress.
OTHERS

Shizuka is completely open to almost any ideas you have! :3
Shizuka's most common demeanor on the outside is that of innocence, hesitance and shyness. Her eyes glance everywhere at once with both curiosity and paranoia, and never locking eyes with anyone or being caught looking at other people for long. Her usual disposition is either on her guard, as if she were expecting a sudden enemy attack at any second, or a neutral, self-conscious stance when under the eyes of other people.[break][break]
Getting to know her, you'll quickly learn that Shizuka is a more quiet character than others, even her my age. Her social skills could always use some work, and she often keeps her thoughts and opinions to herself unless provoked. This is in order to protect herself from those who are incapable of not attacking anyone whose beliefs contradict their own. She often gets the label "shy," which she is never pleased to hear. She consider herself to simply be a cautious introvert, that's all.[break][break]
Despite her silence, Shizuka has a lot of opinion trapped up there in her mind. She only is unable to wield the hammer to break down the walls around her mind and expose her inner thoughts. But there is much more color to Shizuka's personality than that. A lot of adjectives could describe her: kind, polite, caring, thoughtful, determined, strong willed, curious, intelligent, wise - and intelligent as in, she knows a lot of things, wise as in, she's a pretty level headed person - humble, patient, competitive, proud, stubborn...Shizuka will hold grudges against people forever if nothing is done to right the wrong. Shizuka is a very patient person with her friends. Her great levels of patience, loyalty and perseverance are almost at a masochistic level. [break][break]
Shizuka has a low self esteem, so she is often trying to boost her ego by showing off. In pokemon battles, Shizuka is merciless on all of her opponents, and though she would never try to hurt them, she might come off as sadistic to her foes. Shizuka's a masochistic in that she tends to believe that it's good for her to endure pain, hardships, and the stress of being wronged. She's willing to endure all kinds of things for a greater goal such as strengthening the bonds of friendship by proving her loyalty. [break][break]
Shizuka's sadistic in that she absolutely loves to win to boost her ego up. Shizuka is very proud in this area of her personality. In pokemon battles, Shizuka loves winning and beating her enemies hard with her pokemon team. While she hates to lose, she never shows it. She is also brave, strong-willed, and very reckless. Shizuka will make her decisions in a tight spot within seconds, sometimes skimming over the details of her decisions in strategy battles. Her bravery and masochistic nature go along with her reckless nature. She'll eagerly dive head-first into danger, even if she knows that the chances of getting hurt are pretty high. [break][break]
But she's not foolish either, at least not foolish most of the time. She won't do something as stupid as jumping into a volcano, but in spars and combat, Shizuka isn't afraid to put herself in some pain to win. But when the task at hand is serious, Shizuka takes no chances with any of her friends and comrade's lives, becoming as cautious as can be. Shizuka doesn't trust luck either and prefers to not use Pokemon Attack moves with accuracy under 90. Even though she distrusts luck, Shizuka believes in fate and destiny, and that following your destiny is the best way to go. [break][break]
She is protective of her friends and imagines herself as their protector sometimes. She is also very detail-oriented, a quick thinker, yet slow to pick up on others' emotions, feelings, jokes and riddles, though riddles still fascinate her. Shizuka is very bad at reading sarcasm, making her terrible with jokes and conversation even though she still really appreciates a witty joke. [break][break]
She is a deep thinker, but she is also very over-reactive, trained to instinctively be ready to defend herself from danger at anytime. The problem is that she's too over-reactive, and even among friends and allies, she flinches at quick movement in her direction. Her jumpy nature has helped her avoid possible collisions and such. But she still does not pick up on others' emotions very well. She can seem completely calm and peaceful when everyone else is panicking about a storm or invasion. [break][break]
Shizuka is very dependent on others' opinions and approval of her decisions on a mission. She doesn't trust her own knowledge of even her own culture, due to her lack of social skills, and relies on others' knowledge to be sure of her own decisions. But when it comes to her own beliefs, her own schedule, and every other time that she is alone, Shizuka is quite independent, able to take care of herself very well. Though she fears disapproval from others of higher rank, she loves dragon-like pokemon, cats and dogs, and drawing them very much, and she is willing to stand up for what she believes is right, even if it doesn't go along with the normal cultural tastes.[break][break]
But Shizuka is best known for her strong and unflinching loyalty and urge to serve a master, king, queen, emperor, empress, or pharaoh whose goals are good. She needs someone whom she can protect and help carry out his or her ambitions of greatness for the world. She will fight that person's demons and protect that person with her life. Though not her main goal in life right now, she would happily like to find that kind of person and serve him or her with her strong sense of duty and righteousness.[break][break]
She didn't used to be, but Shizuka is a little bit afraid of the dark. She can't stop imagining that something is behind her, invisible to her in the darkness. Almost more afraid of being attacked by a demon is she afraid that she'll see something horrible there when she looks, so she avoids dark places when she can help it. Being a Vulpix gijinka, Shizuka does fear the cold, deadly wetness of water, and prefers to stay away from it. She can swim if she has to, not that she's a super good swimmer; she can doggy paddle furiously well enough to not drown, but the she still has a fear that she'll be dragged to the bottom, or get stuck in something underwater, and have a terrible death by drowning. Water and rock pokemon intimidate her, but she's not too terribly afraid of them. What scares her are those giant, final stage ground types that attack you from below...[break][break][break]

Abilities
[break] Shizuka is not fully human. As if the two species were morphed together, Shizuka shares the genes of a species of Pokemon known as a Vulpix. Gijinka are people who are born with a few external features, the traits and abilities of a certain Pokemon. As a fire type, Shizuka, a Vulpix Gijinka, can wield a few fire typed attacks. Water, rock and earth attacks are especially dangerous to her, but she can resist bug, ice, grass, steel, and fairy attacks. While most fire types also resist fire type attacks as well, Shizuka's Vulpix side has an ability called "Flash Fire" which gives her a complete immunity to fire attacks. Instead of taking a single ounce of damage, Shizuka uses the fire attack to power up her own fire attacks.[break][break]
Shizuka also gains the natural physical abilities of her vulpine spirit pokemon. She can run nimbly at very high speeds, leap higher and farther than about three times her height and six meters respectively, and react and move with incredible agility and flexibility. She has a keen sense of smell that can easily identify people, track, and tell her about those she comes across, such as where they've been, what they've been doing, and whether they've experienced a high amount of stress recently by their fear scent. She can hear very subtle sounds, even activity happening far underground, and see somewhat decently in darkness. Despite her vulpine senses, she does not at all have superior night vision.
When exhausted either physically or mentally, Shizuka is unable to keep up an illusion, especially when her concentration is broken by various other events.[break][break]

History
[break] Shizuka calls home the unique region by the name of "The Lyeant Region." The region has a long and deep history that led to its founding as a brand new country in the great universe where Pokemon reside.
Shizuka was actually born in the Sinnoh region. Her mother was a Ninetales Gijinka who had fallen for a human trainer. They loved each other very much, and her father even forgave her for hiding her true identity as a gijinka from him when he found out about it. Shizuka's father died from illness before she was born, and soon, her mother's gijinka secret was nearly found out by their neighbors. To avoid any further suspicion before it got out of hand, she moved out and escaped into the forest near the Sinnoh mountain range, as Gijinkas were still yet an almost completely unknown existence.[break][break]
Shizuka lived with her mother since birth in an abandoned shrine up on a mountain near Eterna City as a young Vulpix Gijinka.
As soon as Shizuka was strong enough to defend herself from other wild pokemon that might want to hurt her, shizuka's mother began letting her become a lot more independent.
Shizuka was about fourteen years old at this time that she began her journey in the world of pokemon and pokemon trainers. [break][break]
Getting adjusted to everything was hard as could be. Shizuka was raised as an intelligent animal more closely than she was a sociable, cultured human being. Other times were when Shizuka learned the hard way about manners and things like that in today's culture.
Shizuka actually did eventually lose a battle to a Graveler, and nearly died on that mountain. She honestly had no clue where that shiny Charizard came from, but that is how she was rescued. Neji the shiny charizard found her, a knocked out Vulpix gijinka lying in the snow and with only hours left to live. She doesn't really understand why he rescued her either. Most charizards are usually more focused on their own goals, fighting all the other pokemon and proving their strength, but Neji says he couldn't just leave such a young vulpix person to die, and that Shizuka was, obviously different than all the other wild pokemon that he was used to seeing.[break][break]
Except for Shizuka.
Neji started a bonfire to keep Shizuka warm, then shielded her from the blizzard and cold winds with his body, and Shizuka recovered. Shizuka actually didn't name Neji when he joined her party. Being a Vulpix gijinka, she can speak to pokemon, and he told her his name. Their relationship since has never been that of a trainer and pokemon, but more like close friends who protected and trusted each other with their lives, with Neji being more the leader at the time. Shizuka felt really bad to treat him like her pokemon, and was hesitant to put him in a pokeball, but Neji insisted, wanting to be able to protect her while staying by her side, if ever she should need it, and so, after buying her very first poke ball, Shizuka let Neji join her team as her very first pokemon and destined pokemon partner for life.[break][break]
With Neji using Fly, they journeyed around Sinnoh and even tried challenging a Gym leader. The challenge didn't go well at all. Neji was plenty confident in his power, and it was his idea to battle when Shizuka met Volkner at Sunnyshore city, but even Neji's impressive power eventually succumbed to Volkner's electric attacks. It was Neji's first loss ever since he was a charmeleon and Shizuka's first loss as a trainer, and a huge blow to his pride. Shizuka doesn't know how long it took, but it felt like forever until Neji finally recovered from that.[break][break]
That loss didn't stop them from continuing to get stronger. Shizuka captured her very first pokemon, a female Meowth she named Sakura, and trained it together with Neji; they all trained together to get stronger. When among humans, Shizuka took on a disguise as a human, and when training in the wild against wild pokemon, she took on the disguise of a vulpix. Wild pokemon learned to stay far away from the pokemon team of a charizard, vulpix, and meowth. Her time, however, in Sinnoh, was not nearly as long as her time in Lyeant. [break][break]
Shizuka's recklessness which led to her being spotted by humans with her moving, living vulpix ears and tails was an event that she does not regret either in the overall course of her life story. Neji and Shizuka were battling some Pokemon scientists that they met in Sunnyshore City, a place that they tended to hang out at a lot. Def's, and X Defense's, and before Shizuka and Neji knew it, the Magnezone were overpowering them. Really, the battle was far from fair. The scientists had several bottles of each drug and knew not how to quit and call it a game.[break][break]
But the haywire started when the Magnezone aimed a Zap Canon at Neji, missing completely, and hitting Shizuka. The attack knocked her clean out, and her illusion was shattered. Then the mad chase began. Those persistent scientists had to find out how Shizuka had grown Vulpix ears and tails. Neji immediately grabbed Shizuka and they began to flee, but that seemed only to fuel the scientists' curiosities. They screamed for Neji to stop, then had their Magnezones start discharging at Neji. Even already terribly injured from the electric attacks, Neji somehow had the determination to fly Shizuka from the danger as fast as possible. When the scientists began their pursuit, they were no match for Neji's speed.[break][break]
He took his trainer all the way to Lake Valor where he revived Shizuka with one of the revives she had saved money for in her bag, but in less than an hour, they found out that the scientists were already searching for them in Lake Valor, and continued their desperate escape. Thinking back on it, Shizuka's really touched that Neji tried so hard for her. He had only about thirty percent of his full health at that time, and didn't even grab a Hyper potion for himself during that whole ordeal, and saying he was just fine whenever Shizuka asked.[break][break]
The chase sent the two of them and Shizuka's pokemon all across Sinnoh, until they were staring east from Lake Verity. Even then, the scientists would not give up on their discovery until they had solid proof to bring back and feed into the news. Shizuka's whole life was probably at stake, and she was being chased around her home region at the risk of becoming a lab rat in a horrible way. That was when Neji and Shizuka decided to leave Sinnoh behind for whatever could be waiting for them in a land far away from Sinnoh.[break][break]
Shizuka knew she would miss the place where she was born and raised, but she also was brave enough to take on the risk with her loyal charizard partner. They flew for many hours, and Neji had to land in the water several times to rest, using the fire in his belly to keep him and Shizuka afloat upon the waves. They really didn't care where the waves took them, but whenever Neji took to the air, they aimed west, away from Sinnoh.[break][break]
Even Neji's immense stamina combined with the longer breaks they took just drifting upon the waves, the journey was too exhausting for either of them. They were both fire types, and hated water, and being surrounded for miles in all directions with water, as well as all possibilities for water pokemon to show up at any time, was very nerve-racking for Shizuka at least. Neji was always looking confident as could be. The Staryu that Shizuka caught on route 223 and named Ryuko didn't last long at all using surf with its low stamina.[break][break]
They were all saved from total helplessness when a Magikarp appeared out of curiosity, wondering why two fire type pokemon, a charizard, and a vulpix, (since Shizuka used a Vulpix illusion on wild pokemon) were all the way out here, so far from land. Shizuka caught it, and quickly leveled it up so that it evolved into a Gyarados, and the journey from there was much easier. Neji got the rest he so desperately needed within his pokeball, and they all continued their traveling west, faster now that they were using a very capable water pokemon experienced in long distance oceanic travel. But even still, Shizuka's hopes for finding a new place to live were growing thin and strained.[break][break]
For all they knew, they could just be traveling around the world only to die of starvation and dehydration. This sea-journey took almost three days of hard, relentless travel: one and a half days with only Neji and Ryuko the Staryu, and one speedy fast day with Otohime the Gyarados. They were all ready to give up, until on the distant horizon just above the sea level, Shizuka saw Wingulls. Wingulls were sea bird pokemon, but even they always stayed close to shore, close to the place where they were born and raised, and where they could land safely and raise new offspring. [break][break]
The Wingull led Shizuka's party to land, which she and the team had never before longed for so much. Shizuka returned Otohime to her pokeball and practically collapsed on the banks of the Lyeant region. Neji came out of his pokeball and watched over Shizuka as she rested. This was how she got to the Lyeant region. From there, they explored around carefully, finding that the region was fairly new, at least to humans. What was unique was that all legendary pokemon had been known to visit the place.[break][break]
Shizuka met her most closest friend and most trusted ally, Sora, in the Lyeant region. She also caught several pokemon and trained them herselfself. When the malicious Team Imum brought terror to the region, like most other trainers living in Lyeant at the time, Shizuka fought them herself. She even faced off against the team's leader, Lorelei, even though she lost, and somehow managed to escape before her team was totaled. Shizuka got stronger, and with her close friend, Sora, who was an Umbreon gijinka, they fought off Team Imum alongside every other righteous trainer in Lyeant.[break][break]
Since all that drama and excitement, Shizuka never really got the time, since the day they met, to talk to Sora a very much at all in private, show their real selves as Gijinkas and come to terms with their hidden feelings for each other. For nearly three years after the battle against Team Imum, they had gone their separate ways for a while. Shizuka finally met back up with Sora one day when she was training in the most dangerous, dragon infested tower in the region and was nearly killed for her recklessness, and Sora appeared and saved her life in time.[break][break]
Things in Shizuka's personal life began to settle down as she and Sora teamed up to become traveling partners, even with Sora's job as a gym leader. She lately has started a new job of hunting restless spirits with the Seers group after her gym conquering journey was put on hiatus until the current chaos in the Lyeant Region calms down. Even now however, she still struggles the social tension and stigma around natural-born gijinkas like herself, and hides her gijinka identity with her illusion powers in public as best she can.[break][break][break]
