daphne loves her job and works hard to maintain it — she's very proud of how far she's come and doesn't plan on letting her recent opportunities go! pokemon have always been her muse in life and will forever hold her interest. she cares very much about her research, but is oftentimes somewhat embarrassed and timid to show it to most anyone. her mind is brilliant but at the same time is something of a double-edged sword, forcing daphne to think too little of herself. although very friendly and a person who enjoys social interaction, daphne is typically a little awkward initially in conversations and prefers to talk to pokemon over people. when close with somebody, she's the "mom friend" and tries her best to take care of the people she loves, but can be overbearing at times. lyeant was her dream for ground-breaking, new pokemon research, and parallax had the technology for her to advance quickly. overall she's just a really huge nerd. daphne loves to visit coffee shops and eat sweets, usually while multitasking and reading up on articles or research papers or something.[break][break][break]

childhood

daphne had a relatively normal childhood. she grew up in a small home in vaniville town, kalos, as a single child. her mother was a pokemon researcher while her father was a "retired" pokemon breeder (he still bred occasionally but was more of a hobbyist after moving to kalos from hoenn). daphne's mother would travel to lumiose city practically every day to continue her research, sometimes spending long nights at the lab just to finish up one report. daphne never really noticed this as a young child, as she would end up staying up late with her father playing board games and things to pass the time — it ended up being lots of fun when her mother would come home late to see the two of them wide awake to greet her at the door and hand her some cold leftovers from dinner. eventually, once daphne was a little older, her mother would take her to the lab. it was then that daphne began to truly realize her passion in pokemon research, but she wouldn't become serious until her early teenage years.

first job

once she turned the ripe age of sixteen, daphne applied to work for the same lab her mother did. at first she was very reluctant, but after being pushed by her parents to send in her resume, she did. and surprisingly, she was accepted as an employee immediately (her mother may have had some influence). daphne started off as a mere aide, but she wouldn't have had it any other way. she ended up travelling all over kalos, recording research and things to bring back to the lab. it wasn't but a year before she was promoted, and ever since her career has skyrocketed. by the age of eighteen daphne was officially in training to become an official pokemon professor, doing her own research papers and taking specialized classes. her parents were very proud, but nowhere near as daphne herself was. very quickly she proved herself to be something of a prodigy in the field. daphne would be regarded as a genius by her coworkers, but she would never consider herself so high and mighty. she's just trying to do what she loves.

lyeant

just recently daphne received an opportunity to travel to the region of lyeant. she took it immediately, not willing to waste a second of time. she told her parents a few weeks before she set off for her brand new home, the two of them supporting her all the way. the trip was scary and filled with a few panic attacks (especially after hearing what had happened just a couple years ago in the land), but once she arrived and was greeted by parallax, all worries faded away. the technology astounded her, the region perplexed her. daphne was sure this place would be an exciting adventure.
