Quiet, now. Lest they disturb the slumbering ponds of the Firefly springs. People say a footstep beneath these tranquil trees is enough to make the nearby springs ripple with excitement. Upon first entering the unfamiliar territory, the silence was intense. If it weren't for the gentle glow of the Volbeat and Illumise that hugged the mangled trees, Lane would've called this a plant-exclusive haven. Equating the rare bout of silent peace with passive aggressive tension, they hardly felt welcome, and after traversing all day on foot, the humidity was pushing them towards their boiling point.
The crinkle of paper rattled the silence away as Lane ducked underneath a mangled tree, gulping down their nerves as they recalled the reason why they were here. Even now, they had trouble breathing as they stared at the cursive name on the paper; "Olivia Mahgaden", founder of The Crown. The details of the recruitment paper merely aroused curiosity, but the person's name was enough to drive their vassal straight into unfamiliar territory. It was an all around mystery for Articuno, who kept ducking beneath the trees until the sounds of construction led them to a vast clearing.
It had been at least two years since Articuno adapted into "Lane", promising them their survival in return for their physical form. Since then, Lane's soul remained weak and unresponsive. Memories were vague and hard to read, and hiding in Lyeant was safer than getting kicked and outed by Lane's friends and family.
But now! Oh, now things were different. Lane was responding to something, and that meant that Articuno hadn't broke their promise to Lane. Articuno liked to think of themselves as a bird of their word, and they were benevolent by nature. Tentatively, they brushed back their bedraggled hair and waved over to the nearest knight. "Pardon me, but I need directions regarding this recruitment poster?" They asked, trying to maintain a friendly composure even if they looked like a mess and ugh what they'd do for a bird bath right now.

♕ [attr="class","humour"]It was like a tsunami crashing into a puddle. Olivia immediately sensed another legendary entering her domain and she was not happy about it. While Magearna's consciousness stirred upon sensing the other mythical pokemon and sought to welcome it, Olivia saw it as an insult. Surely what ever legendary could have sensed her presence and knew to turn back? This one, whomever it was, decided to venture further and further into her territory. The nerve. Regardless of who it was, any stranger would be sure to be brought to her attention by one of her Knights soon enough. Then she could interrogate them in the privacy of her own tent. Sure enough a Knight called out to Olivia as she studied a map announcing a potential recruit. Not bothering to turn from the map, she ordered, "Let them in and keep guard at my door, Knight."The sound of the flap of her tent closing was the cue for Olivia to turn to face the stranger and she was more than prepared to chew them out; but what she saw quite literally left her breathless. A hand covered her mouth so they wouldn't see it gaping wide open. It was like seeing a ghost. Her knees felt weak and with her other hand Olivia held onto the desk behind her with an iron grip to support herself. This couldn't be real. She couldn't be real. This was the first time in all her years of life that Olivia Mahgaden had ever been left without words. Trying, and failing, to pull herself back together she stuttered out a name she hadn't spoken in years. "Glasses?"[googlefont=Open Sans:800] [newclass=.humour::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;background-color:#000;border: 2px solid #fff;[/newclass][newclass=.humour::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]width:5px;background-color:#000;[/newclass]

The friendly Knight escorted them to one of the completed tents in the colony. Gesturing for Lane to wait, the Knight went ahead to announce them. Hopefully their timing wasn't terrible, since they weren't all that certain on how they were supposed to kill time while the leader was doing who knows what. Luckily for them, the Knight reemerged from the tent and gave them the affirmative to walk inside.
"Thank you." Nodding their gratefulness for the Knight's help, they ducked underneath the tent's flap to be graced with chilled air. A portable A/C, perhaps? What a saving grace.
The interior of the tent wasn't anything like Articuno expected it to be; it was luxurious, comfortable, and well-furnished. And then the most luxurious of them all turned to face them, and the immediate stare whipped all of Lane's muscles straight and stiff. Articuno couldn't make sense of it, but something about that initial aura made them feel like an adolescent caught in the act. Lane knew this person well, and come to think of it, Articuno remembered that face as well.
Uncomfortable silence spread like a wet blanket between the two, neither knowing what to say. That once striking tension turned to shock and apprehension, and finally grasping acceptance as a nostalgic nickname chimed through. 'Glasses'? Articuno wasn't wearing them now. They hadn't needed to, since Lane's prescription was incompatible with Articuno's current vision.
But the nickname remained familiar, recalling the word getting shouted multiple times during their first encounter with Lane and Olivia back in Kanto. Lane's emotions started to stir, as if they were roused from a great slumber.
'Good. I'll need you alive and awake if I'm to understand...any of this.' Articuno thought, taking a deep breath before they decided to keep up the act. "I'm back, Captain." 'Captain' felt natural to say. As if Olivia led not just their group, but some type of ship? Maybe, but Articuno remained perplexed and uncertain about the specifics.
Mentally, they kicked themselves to think of something to say. Anything would suffice to break the ice. "I...I see you've been doing well. I'm glad. And I just couldn't pass up stopping by after seeing this." They gestured towards the recruitment flyer in their hand, and waited to assess Olivia's reaction.
